Ya lay off us roof rackers! :D I used mine all the time in my old truck(not tacoma) for camping. Laid aluminum boat across it and the rear rack thing I welded together.

New truck has one too and I'm glad for sure. If you want form over function, shouldn't have bought a truck.

You use a roof rack if you need more storage space. Its pretty simple.

If you're going bald, just shave it all off. Looks much cleaner.

I like them but dont too. I think yakima/thule looks way better and way more rugged. plus they are sturdy as fu....... i can hold myself from 2 of them on just one side. and they hold weight really well.

    Stock for now
I've added a thule rack to all my toyota trucks to carry either kayaks, canoe, extension ladders etc.
Use the bed space for other supplies.
The setup has worked well for me.

I agree. I like the look of the aftermarket racks better than the oem but to each is own.

Do the black plastic strips that now cover the mounting locations need to be cut to fill any gaps or does the rack come with these pieces?

OEM running boards and roof rack. Yellow fog bulbs and WeatherTech mats and window visors.
I bought one for if one day i need to haul something a bit longer like a ladder from the store to home for instance. Also it works great as a towel rack when i go to the lake...

The rubber strips come completly off to install the OEM racks!

I just installed mine two weeks ago...pretty easy to do. I did so because I have a bak flip bed cover and my surfboards got beat up in the bed last summer. Now they will go on top :)

As for as looks....makes it look taller :p
