I have a 2021 Tacoma Off Road with the full tech package. I usually plug my cell phone into the truck via the USB connection under the touch screen (near cup holder, not the one in the center console). All of a sudden it will not recognize my cell phone, does not charge or connect to apple carplay. I tried a new cable and it did not help. Any ideas how i can fix this?

That port does fail occasionally, do you still have any active warranty? 3 year 36,000miles.

Maybe try one more phone/cable before resorting to the dealer.

Press and hold your volume button to cycle the power. Helps with most CarPlay weirdness I’ve run into

Go to Bluetooth settings and hit forget device . Make sure no previous version are there also . Pair again should fix the issue .

Probably related to the phone or cable rather than the truck. I recently had to clean lint out of my phone's lightning port to get the cable to connect reliably.

My 21 Tacoma and 19 Subaru used to do this. They would just stop working out of nowhere then after a few hours, never more than a day, would start working again. Not sure if it was a phone related issue or something with the cars. I tried different cables different phones and nothing seemed to change it but it always would start working again.

I had a similar problem some reason the Bluetooth setting was interfering with cable connection.
