just purchased my toyota tacoma v6, 119k I do most if not all repairs. The question is, what all needs to be addressed to preserve the truck. Tune up, oil change, at what point should I be worried about the timing change replacement?

V6 have timing chain. So it’s good for a while.

Do you have records when everything has been done? Tacomas are pretty good. Just make sure to keep a eye out for rust

I bought mine at 100k, first thing I did as far as normal maintenance was replace the serpentine belt, coolant, and change the MT/transfer case oil and front/rear diff oil. I'm due at my next oil change to replace the spark plugs and clean the throttle body and MAF sensor.

If you plan to keep the truck a long time. All fluids. I dont care if the previous owner stated "they were just changed". Never trust em, get a starting point that you KNOW is true.

Power steering, brake, coolant, engine oil, transmission (full 12 qt swap with a new filter and cleaned pan magnets), transfer case / front diff if 4x4, rear axle.

It seems like alot, but get all the fluids and you can get it done in one afternoon on the weekend.

At that mileage, also inspect brakes, swap for a new OEM serpentine belt (keep the old one in the truck as a spare). GREASE U JOINTS!

Doing all the above will make for an no hassle ability to drive without worry for a LONG time.

    Welcome.

Some of the links in the thread above no longer work but the service intervals are there. If she came with no service records assume the worst.

Spark plugs, if you see ngk on one side and denso on the other, they’re originals from the factory, get them changed. Don’t buy Amazon counterfeits.

Check the fluids that you can. Assume everything needs changing unless it’s super clean.

If you get yourself stuck, there’s plenty of people willing to help pretty quickly.

Crew cab isn’t really the correct term. It’s either a double cab with big back doors or access cab with half size back doors.

Starting a new thread asking what kind of oil to use is discouraged, the subject has been beat to death repeatedly.

Silly questions are best asked on a Friday.
