This just reminded me I need to put my assembled 881s up for sale. Somewhat subconsciously been avoiding it.

To me, arb bumper + winch, and steel skids sounds like a fit for 883. I have 883 with a tube steel bumper and winch, I’m a 3.4 ext cab though. If I remember it all correctly the 883 is the same height as an 881 but a stiffer spring, while 881 and 882 are the same spring rate with the 882 being taller. I’ve never found the 883s to be too stiff.

Curious why the CV angles don't matter with manual locking hubs? I have a regular cab 4x4 5MT with them and this is the first time I've heard this. Thanks! BTW, your rig was a big inspiration for me.

When your hubs are unlocked the cv axles don’t turn. That keeps them from wearing out when the cv axles are steep and the ribs on the boots rub.

2.5 Rough Country strut lift. All new springs. 33/12.5/15 Mickey Thompson MTZ. 15x8 wheels.
I just made an 1” extension out of flat bar and bolted it to the arm to clear the springs.

Installed new leafs this weekend, OME CS019R
    [IMG]

There seems to be some confusion about the bushing kits for these leafs with stock shackles. Wheelers Offroad, posts in this thread, and various other posts across TW all recommend the SB89 Bushing Kit if you have stock shackles. The SB89 kit did not fit the leafs, regardless of whatever shackles you have. The front leaf eye was a significantly larger diameter than any of the bushings included in SB89.

I am quite confused how the SB43 kit is marketed for the OME shackles, while the SB89 kit is marketed for stock shackles, when the bushings are the same for the shackle side and different for the frame perch side.

The SB43 kit worked perfectly, though you do need two additional 181469 bushing spacers than just the two included in the bushing kits. Most post I've seen do include a note to buy (2) 181469 bushing sleeves, but never notes that that is an additional 2 from the 2 you get in the bushing kits. I was probably just slow to not pick that up, but I figured I'd specify that here for anyone else looking to install these in the future.

Looks great with the rear end of the truck picked back up. let those springs break in a bit an youll notice they ride quite nice and haul weight like its not even there. I came across the same dilema with bushing kits and the possibility of needing the addtitional 181469 bushing sleeve reducers. I ended up going with the OME greasable shackles so i didnt need the sleeves but i still ordered them incase i changed my mind and wanted to use oem shackles. in the end 2 full OME SB43 bushing kits were needed to install the CS019R Leaves WITH OME SHACKLES. If your are using stock shackles you will need those bushing sleeve reducers. Great job @time623 at navigating that mess of a system. Hope you enjoy your new leaf pack for many years to come. Maybe someday i may remove a leaf or two to soften it up but i actually like the way it rides now that its broken in!

I've got a 2.7l excab with an ARB. Went with 883s and Dakars. There is probably a 1"rake to the front. I know the Dakars will settle some as they break in, so I'm hoping the winch will compensate accordingly when I get it mounted.

ARB stopped manufacturing different height springs for our trucks. Now it's one coil option and you can adjust the preload with spacers. No more 880, 881, 882, 883.

(at least this is what I have heard from suppliers)

Old Man Emu made those springs. ARB may have marketed them but OME makes hundreds of springs catering what seems like a Toyota based market.

OME is an ARB owned brand entirely. They're one in the same

PreRunner 4WD Manual Hub Conversion, 2020 TRD Pro Rims, DynaMat Sound Deadening & Katzskin Leather heated seats upgrade
I have read most of this OME thread and wanted some suspension advice for my 04 3.4 AT XC TRD PreRunner that I converted to 4WD with Manual Hubs. I desire a mild suspension leveling lift (2”) since the original Bilsteins are showing 20 years of wear coupled with extra weight causing a 1.5” rake between rear to front even with my SnugTop camper shell weight on the bed. I am not going to be Overlanding or going crazy off-roading with this rig, but want to enjoy the Great Outdoors.

I am thinking my front shocks have failed so causing it to sit so much lower than rear plus extra 4WD components so when I add the new OME 881 coil springs with new front & rear shocks (OME or Bilstein 5100 on lowest setting) it might come up 2-2.5 inches for Xtracab in the front. Plus I also have a 1/2” Taco Drivers Side Lean versus Passenger side. Then let it settle after a month plus some driving and determine right heightAdjustment with leaf springs in back to level whether Dakars or Icon/Deaver AAL. I don’t want a 3” lift and just want to level front with back. I have a fear that OME Dakar MD leaf springs will lift the rear too much.

Here are my measurements ground to wheel well with 265/70/16 tires:
    Driver Front: 34 1/8”
    Driver Rear: 35 5/8”

    Passenger Front: 35 5/8”
    Passenger Rear: 36 1/8”

My plan is to go with pre-assembled OME 881s with Bilstein 5100s on lowest setting to get a 2-2.5” lift up Front with Bilstein 5100s in rear as well. I will wait on rear leaf springs until I see how it levels out.

How do I get rid of 1/2” Taco Lean on Drivers side? A 1/4” or 1/2” spacer up front installed on top of driver strut?

Thoughts or recommendations on my suspension plan?
