Well... went and looked up the ADD. Surprised I haven't torn any of that shizma off. The rear locker wiring didn't even last two months and I had that torn out. Huh.

Ooooooooooo nice...wait, I think...did you keep your Tacoma so long now that they made a memorial thread for all your previous car dealers?

Edit: Well look at this, banner is special for the Wisconsin thread. Someone has done "favors" for the mods, eh?

I have the ADD also. When people talk about how the OR has a manual transfer case, I always like to remind them that we still rely on actuators.

Not if you do the ADD delete like in the thread @wi_taco posted. Or you coulf just leave it locked in. Let that front drive shaft spin all the time like nature intended.

Of course in a 3rd Gen you'll end up with a x-mas tree dash, but there's creative ways around that too.

Manual case swap was on my list then @McSpazatron bought the case I was eyeing.

One could also do the ADD delete without swapping transfer cases, though.

I wonder why it's referred to as an FJ case swap, when the 4Runner is also available with the manual case. Is this just Tacoma people trying not to admit that the 4Runner is superior?

Yeah, the automatic FJ case is the same as the part time 4wd 4runner case.

What's this "superior" blasphemy you speak of?

Just talking shit. After driving the Taco for a week, I really think what I've been saying all along holds true: need a bed, get a Taco, want a wagon, get a 4runner. :notsure:

I can’t imagine anyone delusional enough to even consider a 4Runner being superior to a (2nd gen) Tacoma!

Skid plates might've prevented that? :notsure:

All right, I've had enough. Time to put this one to bed. As a Toyota Tech and an avid defender of the taco and it's sheer versatility. I have this and only this to say......

The 5th gen 4Runner is damn near the best vehicle ever created. And I want one

You are a very wise man.
Have you ever thought about writing a book or starting your own TV cooking show?

I mean, if all else is equal, it's a better version of the same drivetrain. :notsure:

Yup. And, I'll say that I'm enjoying the Taco more than I expected. It's a great truck!

I'm unfamiliar with this ADD contraption but this part of your post stood out to me.
When I use 4H in the winter I leave it there when parked and never had issues.
    Is this a thing?

That LS460 is pure class, just beautiful, perfect lines. The ones that came after started to look less pretty in their styling.

Did the 07 still have dash cracking issues, or was it resolved by then? I wonder how this would work out as a daily…

The ADD is an actuator in the front differential. It disconnects the passenger side axle in 2wd and engages it in 4wd.

This is why even those of us with manual T-cases still rely on electronic actuators.
