Easy, as long as you're the one with the post driver pounding in all the verticals

I don't own one of those fancy hydraulic setups

Do the laws no make it somewhat 'fair' for you?

Asking only cause I'm in a different state.

I got divorced; kept all the money saved as well as some things.

I let her keep the furnished place, and let her have the car (a Corolla, no loss).

    OOF

Dude, here's my hoping it's less expensive than you're projecting because 1. people don't deserve to go through that shit, it's beyond stressful and 2. no kids are even involved

You got friends here like Zane fortunately, not sure who else you know well on here

Your best bet is maintaining some level of good mental health to get through this; it sucks

Here's my advice to all you married folks, get some couples counseling sooner than later. Get it so you can better understand each other as you grow and change with age. Don't wait until you see the fire because you may find out, it's too late. That's what I learned. I've also learned that I have surrounded myself with good people. I haven't outted a single person in my friend group through this, they've all been so supportive and helpful. I've always tried to only surround myself with good people and pushed away those that I felt weren't. And now, when shit went sideways, these good people have been my rock.

Stay tuned for part 2 of my Ted talk.

Good people are hard to find, but when you do, keep them

Be their good people for when they need it

    :fistbump:

Glad we got a lot of good people here

@m3bassman wishing you the best, but now the whole house thing makes a ton more sense

Ugh that sucks, sorry to hear. It's been quite expensive for friends who have gone through it.
No to mention alimony. It's unfortunate how quickly things get dirty.
Here's to the light at the end of that tunnel.

We got Sofia this little toddler toy digital camera that takes mini digital images, I think I've created a monster. She's been so stoked with it all day taking pictures non stop, which is awesome except she is relentless with it. Sitting on the toilet just waiting for her to come barging in like a paparazzi

Shit man... Really sorry to hear all this. I watched my parents split up in my 20s and the hell it wrought on both of them in different ways. It was difficult for a good while. But looking back now some 12 years later they are both happier than I've ever known them to be. I know it's not much consolation, the whole "just wait and you'll see" rhetoric but hang in there. Lean on your support group and friends. Tunnel might be long but there's a light at the end of it.

I agree wholeheartedly with the marriage counseling. My wife was married once before me and she insisted that we actually do marriage counseling before we got married, I huffed and puffed about it but it turned out to be a great thing for us. That was 6 years ago and we still use some of the practices that counselor taught us. Mostly the weekly check in with each other, go over things we're thankful for of the other person over the week and then talk through any issues that might be happening.

Communication is my biggest weakness in relationships, always has been. So it really helps me to have a set time when we open up about things that are otherwise difficult to bring up
