:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/headlight polishers. We're on our way to a wedding today. Outdoors no less. At least it's not below freezing. A longtime friend is doing the deed for a second time. He seems really happy about all of it, in which case so am I.

All this talk of camp stoves reminds me of the guy who used to post in here. Lived in NorCal somewhere in the mountains, and camp stoves were his passion. He hunted down the rarest models, restored them, the whole deal. Something happened that got him a temporary ban, which he took as a sign to leave and never come back. We've lost a few folks that way.

I remember him well. I have 2, 70 year old Coleman lanterns in great shape that I was going to give him. We were suppose to meet up but he just kind of dropped out of sight. He was definitely an expert on old lanterns and camp stoves. Too bad he never returned here.

I tried looking back through the posts to find his name and couldn't find it. I do know he did a lot of camping and adopted a stray dog that was his traveling buddy. A lot of folks have come and gone through the thread over the years, but now 12 years later the thread carries on .

    Afternoon all:

I remember the posts about the old camp stoves and thought it was an interesting hobby, can't recall his name either.
We all saw buck this morning, 3 of us, I had one at 20 yds. or a little less, not enough horns to be legal and shoot though! :annoyed:
On the way to hunt we saw a car stopped along the road, he pulled out and there were pieces of the car on the road, sure enough he had just hit a deer and there was a dead buck laying there partially on the road. We pulled it off the road and were going to salvage it but didn't know the laws for picking up a roadkill, on the way back from hunting we noticed that someone had already cut the hind quarters off of it.

I do not recall a ban. He had some other stuff going on, and this was just fun place for him ... I guess.
He's too good a guy to get banned. He is one of the nicest people that I have met.

Bingo Ken. Duane was a good guy and knew his camp stoves and lanterns. It would be nice to have him back on here. If you talk to him, tell him to drop in sometime.

I know a thing or two about that stuff, but don't talk about it much here.

We had a fancy (steak and lobster) dinner in a specialty restaurant on board ship and then the entire dining room sang happy birthday to me. I definitely ain’t a young whippersnapper anymore.
