Looks good! Hook into any yet with them? Nothing better than that! Well... walking up to a steam, putting your aquarium net in the dirt, seeing what's kicking, tying a fly that imitates it while sitting on the bank, rigging it up, casting it, setting the hook, and landing a fish... that's the best fly fishing experience ever. Dang I need to get out!

Most of the fishing close to me is lake and pond. I like the elk hair caddis dry and have choose that as my fly to perfect so to speak. I've fished the lakes using this pattern and have caught some monster blue gill...

This Saturday, I am helping Trout Unlimited to stock Apple Creek near Wooster OH.

AND the steelhead run up north is happening real soon and hope to partake in that next month (that's what the wooly buggers are for).

Love it. Looks like you have found your calling. I pity those that fly fish and don't know the enjoyment of tying their own flies.

I own a 4.5 acre pond in the back yard so have been able to do a fair amount of observation over the past ten years. We get midge hatches on it regularly during spring and fall, some fairly heavy at times. I sometimes cast some parachute style dries to bream rising in the evenings. I've also tied on a midge larvae dropper, simple thread wrapped bodies on curved caddis hooks, a few inches under those dries. When the bream take the dries they just explode and run nuts, guess it's some sort of elevated surprise for them. A good mug of coffee on a cool March evening and casting from the dock is a great way to end the last light of day with a bunch of hand sized bream.

Day in and day out though, a "purple glitter getter" is hard to beat. Some call them bully flies.

As far as trout fishing, enjoying a good cigar has been darn fun fishing a last light sulphur spinner fall the last few years.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
That's my go to shop. TCO is right down the road as well (at the Lamont intersection). They have a better selection of roads. There is also an Orvis store in Slate Run at Wolfe's General Store. They make killer sandwiches.

It also home to these guys...

Exciting few days for my family and I.

This past Saturday, kids and I stocked Grosjean Park in Wooster OH. We stocked 1,500 12"-14" Rainbow Trout.

Yesterday was a big day for my family and me as I adopted my step son. My father in law gifted me this...

Need to add dowel rods to the bars near the top as he didn't know what thread spool hole size to use. Will have to add and update that later.

The front has a 2" lip that I can clamp my Renzetti to. Inside the front door, is a place for two Plano cases.

    Pretty awesome gift.

Back in mid September I did a week long fishing trip on the Flathead River in SE British Columbia, and blogged a trip report about it.

If you are into long stories with perhaps too much detail, more pictures of mountain whitefish than westslope cutthroat, and you dig cool rocks, then... https://idigbigcutts.blogspot.com/2023/09/a-flathead-goes-to-flathead.html (click on pics to enlarge)

And I drove my son's Tacoma while they hunted in his buddy's F-150...

Another fly angler here. I am new to the forum and live in Utah. I have fly fished for about 20 years but didn't get real serious about it until about 10 years ago. I tie most of my own flies as well. If any of you are in Utah I'd love to fish sometime!

Thanks! Those legs are a bit tricky, still trying to figure out the best way to get them just right. I need to tie some in different colors now.

Those opposite overhand knots at the knee are hard for me to do for some reason.

I’ve been tying for ~ 40 years and currently use the traveler and like it a lot. If you tie a lot of streamers there are better vices.
