Shit happens I guess. The owner of the company told my co worker that he didn't have the funds to pay our salaries. Which I call bs because he's leaving this Wednesday to go to Spain for a month.

That is a bummer. Don't let it get you down if you can help it. I've seen people lose motivation and fall down some deep holes after losing a job or a relationship. Certainly ain't worth that mess.

After much deliberation, I picked up a set of Rhinowalk bags, 14L per side.
The Mosko and Tusk bags are nice but they both mounted to the luggage rack, requiring removal of my hard top case and going to a soft top case. I wanted to keep the existing case and wasn't entirely sure of what size bags would fit anyway and didn't want to sink close to a grand into it. These were cheap, seem to be decently made for the occasional weekender, and hang over the pillion allowing me to keep the top case. Turns out this size is prolly what I'll stay with.
But they sagged and flopped around, seemed a bit close to the exhaust, even with adding a shield.

    Looked ok otherwise.

    So I did this.

Little bend to make the transition.

Instant clearance and the bags are stable as a bonus.

Didn't stick them out farther, but rather rolled them up into position.

Contact area. was going to fill that gap in with a small piece. For some reason i was aiming for 90 degree angles.

Common sense and laziness kicked in and this seemed a better idea. Bike hasn't got a single 90 degree angle anywhere, so should flow well.

After a little welding, grinding, etc, ended up with these.

Currently drying with a super thick coat of primer to help me sand out some of the imperfections. Finished pics to come.

Yeah, this set of days off I need to get my chain treated, top up the tank, and put it in storage. Our highs are in the 50s, and I will likely have about a 2.5-3 mile walk home from the storage unit. I may break my own rule about gear just so I don't have to carry my helmet home... :anonymous:

Seriously? Just leave the helmet with the bike and go back later to pick it up. I get that it's only about 3 miles but is it really worth it?

Hope you feel better and think more clearly later. I've seen enough by now in my riding life that I just don't need to see any more if it can be avoided. I consider all of you here to be friends and don't want to lose anyone if it can be avoided. Not trying to be ignorant. Way too cold to ride out to visit you at this time of year......

I appreciate it, and I'm honestly half ashamed my dumbass didn't just think it through. It'll be a few days before I relocate it anyway, so hopefully by the time I got to it I'd think more clearly, but those are the simple mistakes that get people in trouble. Thanks, Chuck. :fistbump:

That's why I started with "Seriously? " I thought possibly you were jerking our collective chains but figured it might just be a possibility that my idea may not have occurred to you.

I just had a near miss with a deer less than 1/4 mile from my home 2 weeks ago and I hit a deer once about 20 years ago at almost that same location. The reason most accidents occur close to home is because we get complacent near home. I truly do not want to read about something happening to anyone here like that.

I'm in the middle of nowhere. If I bite the dust on my bike, or for any other reason, you'd never know. LOL The price of anonymity, I suppose.
