based on their track record, i suspect the 4th gen is going to be plagued with problems the first couple years.

toyota was/is successful when they build trucks that are a value and relatively simple. when they try to compete with horsepower, payload/towing, and tech, there is less value, less reliability, and less difference between them and the competition.

when it comes to the newest gen tacoma and tundra, it seems toyota has lost their way.

imagine this - the prior generations of tacoma and tundra were still made, available for purchase. and were on the dealer lot next to the newest generation. i would be willing to bet they would sell more of the prior generation.

Ram has had great success with this marketing strategy…..mainly because the prior generation DS series 1500 is still a great truck that’s capable and affordable.

I predict the 4th Gen trucks are going to disappear from dealership lots like a pan of brownies at a reefer party. People just love new stuff!

But then again, what the hell do I know.

    Carry on!

If you want to be talked out of a 4th gen just wait until the pricing comes out. Between that and the huge market adjustments the dealers will add on to them, you'll run.

The most reliable Toyota’s are the outdated ones, so Gen3 Taco, current 4R are safe choices. Buy a Gen3 and chill out a couple years. You’ll get a better deal, and spend less time at the dealership. By ‘25-‘26, Toyota will correct some items, and add some features.

Nobody here can advise you on Gen4 vs Gen3 b/c nobody’s driven a ‘24, and as of this weekend there are no prices. Assuming Gen4 is going to be a better truck in most ways, then it comes down to how much better is it, vs the cost. Just like anything else you buy.

Regardless which way you go, test drive prior. Too many people complain here about Gen3 “issues” that are largely subjective. And when the YouTube dopes finally drive the ‘24’s and declare it “the greatest truck we’ve driven” in return for free travel & booze, don’t take their word for it. Wait and drive one b4 you lay your money down.

New tundras already have 5k sitting on the hood. It ain’t 2020-2022 anymore. Given where Toyota taken their pricing they will have to seriously discount the new trucks to keep ‘em moving

Most luxurious I've owned. Because I'm not a lunatic that's stupid enough to buy a Roush Raptor or a Longhorn megacab.

Tundra has turbo charged engine and it has issues, so good luck with your small 4cyl turbo charged.

Alright enough with the goofy Corvette vs Rx-7 banter. I have made up my mind to get a 3rd gen. I am going to take a look at a V6 SR next weekend with plans to buy it, if they offer a good value for my trade in. I would have preferred an SR5, but they do not seem to have any new V6 access cabs in my area.
