Removed wiper arms, then sanded off corrision areas and repainted. 1st time they've been done in 14 years. There was a lot of leaf debris under the arm near the bolts that the vacuum dealt with.

I guess what I’m saying is if you are upgrade to a 200+ amp alt then don’t limit yourself to the 2awg that’s the largest you can fit in the box. I ran a mechman on my gx470 and routed my stuff the way I described so I didn’t need to worry about the choke point of the fuse box, the factory electronics won’t have a massive cable interjected, and the aftermarket fuse panel is easy to run straight from the battery terminal where it meets the line from the alt, which makes most sense given it’s the aftermarket stuff you want to feed more juice.

Good point, so basically keep the input wire so the fuse box gets juice and and just scrap the output wire that goes to the alt and just do a direct lead. Everything is basically setup to do this, I will just have to cut up some more wire.

I get my bonus in December and I’ll probably use some of that on the alt. I’ll redo the wiring then.

Thank you for the input. I should have gone that route in the first place but live and learn.

Bodenzord did a pretty good writeup on the connections, though his setup is more involved with the factory harness, and he relocated his alt-sense wire but I never did that part:

    http://www.bodenzord.com/archives/477

    essentially:

Line from alternator —> fuse —> battery terminal

Line from battery terminal —>fuse box

The original short line that ran out the bottom of the the fuse box back to the battery in the OEM config isn’t needed anymore.

If you wanted to leave it the way you have it, 2awg should on all accounts be fine for the upgraded alt potential amp output given it’s so short. But I like to keep the increased amps out of the OEM fuse box and fed with the fatter cable.

Ordered a set of RCI raw aluminum engine and transmission skids along with a set of catalytic converter shields. Cats are a hot ticket item for thieves here in NC so any little bit of added insurance in protecting them will be helpful. I'll be taking my TRD Pro skid off and selling it when the time comes to put these new skids on. Will update later when they come in and I put them on.

Nice! I lived in Asheville for years so I really miss the mountains. I try to get back up that whenever I can.

Saved that build log to my bookmarks incase I need to reference. Thank you. Did you do anything with that tiny frame ground? I got rid of mine as I felt it was a little redundant. I understand that frame grounds are better than body grounds but I felt that the body ground up front would be fine.

    Just some stuff...
Well just my luck it’s no longer available. I’ll figure something out. I just didn’t want to install one on the license plate considering I had paid extra to have the built in camera. Damn squirrel or mouse or whatever it was got me good. Only had it for a couple of weeks then one day I was walking up to my truck after work and saw the wires hanging underneath the truck. Just pissed me off! Hahaha!! I’ll figure something out. Thank you for getting back to me.

Been wanting a TRD skid but shipping would be about the same as buying one new.

My truck didnt come with a back up camera but when I upgraded my headunit, I added this one to my poplock. BestBuy installed it with the headunit and didnt have any issues with the install.
