Anyone have solar panels on their house? My wife wants me to look into it since we got our new roof. Any company's worth calling

 

This is an area where i would get multiple quotes and ask lots of questions. There are like 3 dozen solar panel companies in the Northern front range alone.
1-What is the average time frame for ROI? How long before they pay for themselves and you start getting a check from the electric company?
2-What kind of warranty since the roof is being drilled.
3-Hail damage.
4-Wind ripping them off
5-Efficiency of panels and expected lifetime.
etc...

 

Don't forget pigeons. Everyone in my neighborhood got solar, and now there is bird shit everywhere.

 

Yea I’ve got panels on my roof. Can take a photo of them tomorrow. Mostly black pannels and hide easly

 

What I found out is many of the company's who sell and install them will actually own them and they want you to agree to a contract for them to be on your roof... The lifespan was a huge issue too as every couple years it seems the tech changes and improves

Definitely do a little research on any solar financing companies you are considering. Some have shady business practices and lack of follow through on install. You should not have to pay on the loan until installation is complete. You don't want to end up paying on a loan and 6 months later you still don't have an install date.

I put in my own 14kW system 13 months ago. It cut ROI time in half to self install. Fun project, somewhat complicated. Glad i did it.

Why is my phone clock two minutes faster than the computer clock? I thought digital shit that links to the world would have the same time.

 

Turn them both to manual time setting and then turn back on the auto-time setting. That will likely fix it.

 

I know the nights suck, but I'm glad we have early daylight again
