Can I test drive (or ride in) your rig?

    5100s at 1.5”, HS off road 1.5” add a leaf, 265/75R16 Duratracs
    Anyone in Colorado Springs have 5100s, and E load 285/75/16 tires on a truck that’s pretty close to stock weight that they’d let me drive or ride in?

    I’m looking to upgrade to 285s for my next set of tires, but not sure if it’s worth the money to me to upgrade wheels to 17” to be able to run a good C load tire, I know E will be stiffer etc etc etc and lots of variables, but since ride quality is subjective I’d like to try a similar setup as what I’m looking at before I buy.

    I'd go to 17's just for the better tire choices down the line. E will ride stiff with an empty truck.
    400lb bike won't make much of a difference.
    I have E's on mine but it also hauls a camper full time and it rides fairly plush with 900lbs plus or minus in the bed at 40psi.

    Thanks for the reply! I definitely understand E would be stiffer, and I’m not concerned with the weight of the bike (maybe I chose a bad pic for attention lmao), I would just like to experience first hand how much stiffer E load would be to make my own decision based off of that. If I feel like it’s tolerable I’d rather not spend the extra $1k ish on wheels. Also might get a camper in the future, so that’s another thing I should think about.

    Personally, I have run E on all my trucks, 1st gen as well (285/75-17) with not all that much added weight. Girlfriend thought it rode better than the Tundra.
    I don't think the ride is intolerable at all.
    I think C rated is way too soft for Colorado trails, but that's just my opinion after changing numerous flats thru the years.
    I don't think you'll regret it. Although, some treads alone will ride stiffer than a honeymoon pecker compared to others. Bigger tread blocks, stiff. Small tread pattern, better ride. Smaller tread blocks simply flex better.

    Great analogy

    I’m definitely leaning more towards E, I agree about the Colorado trails, and will be wheeling in Wyoming a bunch also, so lots of small potentially sharp rocks. The horror stories of E load ruining the driveability on road just has me questioning and wanting to test drive some E load. I’ve had E load on a couple Jeeps, but solid axle to independent front for a comparison is apples to oranges ‍♂️
