US measurements are off a bit. Overall width (not track) is 1980mm = 77.9”.

I'd bet good money some youtuber or fabber is already stockpiling parts to do exactly this. Gonna be lots of LT Tacos soon.

The 83" for the GX550 includes the mirrors, but it is still wider than the Tacoma. My guess is the frames are the same width and the bodies on top are more/less wide. Controls arms, spindle/hubs, and rear axle assembly determines the track width.

Another benefit is TRD and the aftermarket will have to spend less time/money on R&D to make components that fit a lot of Toyota models. Quicker to market and (theoretically) less expensive.

    My '09 Tacoma is 74.6" W x 208.1" L.

I wouldn't have thought that the 550 would be shorter than my current truck.

...not that that's a bad thing. Or a thing at all.

It is a SUV, they are typically shorter than pickups, at least extra/crew cab trucks. It is like comparing the 4Runner to the Tacoma.

The TGNA-F platform is what the vehicles fall under while the actual chassis between models will vary. Might share some components, but dimensions will be different. Toyota can be a bit quirky. The 1st Gen Tundras shared the same frame however the body on the crew cab (right in the pic) was slightly bigger than the extra cab. Even the headlights on the crew cab were bigger. Seems like too much effort costs/engineering-wise, but they did it.

I happened to get on the parts site yesterday at parts.toyota.com. Decided to see if there's any progress on the new truck. Yesterday, it would let you select 2024 Tacoma, and any of the trims. Howveer, none of the trims that offer manual transmission would show the manual transmission in the "driveline" options box. This morning I checked again, and now the manual is an option to select.

Neither of them show any parts once you select a vehicle. I just wanted to share my findings because clearly it's a work in progress that they're finally starting to put some info out about the new truck.

Strange that parts content is the first to go live.

Agreed. I’m hoping the guys that have good access to TIS will start seeing details like transmission specs and such soon. I really want to know the details of the new axle and transmission ratios. I’m searching daily, multiple times a day lol.

    I've been doing similar things.

    Which is funny because:

    A) I'm not going to buy the first year
    B) We all already know the specs and the pricing (to within $5k or likely much less)

so I don't even know what I'm looking for lol.

Why is Toyota calling the 4dr double cab a CrewMax? There's only the XtraCab and 4dr crew cab available.

Maybe there are doing the same naming structure as the tundra

Looks that way, but there is only the 4dr and 2dr option. Calling the standard 4dr crewmax is overselling the capability of the cab. People will be buying the CrewMax, and complaining there isn't enough room. Tundra has two different 4dr configurations, Double Cab and Crew Max. CrewCab would have been more appropriate.

Based on the screenshot, it would appear they populated the non hybrid trims. Interesting the Limited is listed.

I started to play a similar game, but I watch inventory of '23 SR5's... uncheck in transit and pending sales. work my way out to 500 miles, check SR5, Double Cab, v6 and 4wd. The IN TRANSIT tickbox is telling, cuz there's no timeline, just that it's somewhere in the process of getting to a dealer... and end of year I know two dealerships that stock up inventory just for those year end deal seekers...

    so from Virginia

50 miles: 17 vehicles exact match
100 miles: 38 vehicles exact match
250 miles: over 99 exact match

which means they have a long way to go to get current model year stock out to the dealers so they can bring in the '24's.

    <cry>

still holding out hope they show up online by black friday/cyber monday.
