2018 Tacoma SR5 Lights

I can't seem to find out if I have auto lights. I am not clear on if my model even has auto on/off lights. My truck battery keeps dying and it's brand new. HELP

 

Look on the stalk on the left side of the steering wheel. If you have a selection that says "Auto" then you have automatic headlights. If not then you don't.

That being said, they are all programmed to turn off after a few minutes if the vehicle is not running. Your power draw is likely elsewhere. What mods have been done? Perhaps the battery was bad right from the store.

 

No, nothing on the stick says AUTO. It's a 2018 SR5 and it amazes me this isn't an AUTO feature. Want to buy a 2018 SR5 with less than 35K miles on it and clear title and CARFAX?

 

Believe it or not, lots of modern cars still come without auto headlights. They will automatically shut off for you when not running though. If it makes you feel any better, the SR didn't even come with intermittent wipers standard in 2018.

 

Here is a very complete Specs list on the 2016 Tacoma. There may have been some minor changes between the 2016 PDF and your 2018. This should give you a better ideas what was standard, optional or not available on your SR5.

If only there was someway you could have checked the features of the truck BEFORE you bought it …

 

If this amazes you, then you should check other features and not assume. The Tacoma isn’t the tech leader model, rather the opposite.

 

What’s brand new? The battery ? How many batteries did you go through ? I recently lost one after 6 weeks due to shit quality

What brand is it? Are the lights in the off position when you park it?
