Hows the gas mileage? Any chance you've taken them on sand or beach driving?

I ask because I just found a screw in my 60k miles general grabbers, and am looking to go with the exact same size I had (285/75/r16) but a little less aggressive and heavy than the ATX's. After I did a ton of research I landed on the Cooper AT3 XLT. They seem like a good fit.

It's a great all around tire. Beach driving is going to come down to PSI a lot of the time. The only condition where they don't accel at would be super cakey mud. Regarding MPG they are fairly light for an e rated and actually weigh the same as the smaller Toyo RT's I had in 265/75/16 and MPG is the same especially when you recalibrate the spedo for the larger tire size.

Fantastic, thanks for the feedback! Mine are due to be installed tomorrow. Think I'm going white letters out

I like the white letters out too with a touch of the old school vibes and that's the route I went with my Pro and 4th Gen 4Runner.

@6MTPro the white letters definitely compliment the white body color. Great looking Taco!

Thanks I got those along with the BFG trail terrains for my 4Rummer at your America's Tire locations in in NorCal. They have different characteristics and driving feel being SL vs E rated but the 4Runner is more of a daily. Both have white letters out though and both are 285s.

Can any of you guys/gals let me know if the 285/75/16 AT3 XLT’s are 3PMS rated?

I know the Cooper website says that only some of the XLT’s are 3PMS rated but then doesn’t specify which sizes.

I saw the post a while back from Discount Tire saying they didn’t believe that size has the rating but I never found a follow up post confirming. Thanks!

The XLT/LT are not, probably based on the harder tread compound but they are M+S rated though. The softer 4S ones are triple peak snow rated through.

No worries I did more research on tires when looking than I'm open to admit haha.

Yeah same haha. I went from 265 all terrains to 285 mud terrains then back to the old 265’s and I can’t decide what’s next…way too many good options.

If you go the 265 route Coppers are a great tire along with the BFG trail terrains I have in the picture above for triple peak rating. Actually have a set of the trail terrains 265/70/17's that I am trying to sell since I upsized the exact same tire to 285/70/17. Not the beefiest looking AT, but super quiet, light, and great in the elements. Zero issues with balancing too.

I appreciate the info. I actually am mostly looking at hybrid tires and a couple of the more aggressive all terrains because I do a good amount of off road stuff. My full size spare is actually a trail terrain.

I had Toyo Open Country R/T before these and they were great and lasted a while but got super loud towards the end. Was interested in the new Toyo Open Country R/T Trail because they looks great and have that RT setup but they are HEAVY for what they are.

Ugh yeah I looked at those for a while I also wish they weren’t so heavy. The Falken RTs are super light in 265/75/16.

Just got mine on! First impressions are that they are SO much quieter than my general grabbers and feel softer underneath the truck at the same PSI.
Had to go white letter out.

Thought you would like them. Love it that it's quiet on the way to the trails and does what I need when on offroading.

They look great with the white letters out. I have 40K on my Grabber ATXs and they’re so loud. It’s good to see a post from someone that switched from the same tire that I’m running.

Yeah it was a bit jarring to realize just how loud my GG's were. I just thought it was wind noise on the truck.
So far I've also recouped about 1mpg, but we'll see how it does with some highway driving today.
If the surf is good this weekend I'll be taking them on the beach and I'm curious to see how they do. The one thing I loved was that 9 time out of 10 I wouldn't have to air down the GG's even on loose sand.
