Certainly someone has a set of roof cross bars on their extended cab. I have been looking long time and haven't found anything but extremely crappy looking "fits most" cheap garbage. More like temporary solution for a quick trip. Id like something nice, needs to be bolted. Please share your vendor. Thanks

I know someone local that took a 3rd gen 4Runner rack, shortened it slightly and installed it. Sorry no pics but there are tons of pics of it done on a dblcab on here. I’m looking to do the same for my truck. Been checking the junkyards lately.

A 3rd Gen 4Runner roof rack rail system is bolted into the roof of the vehicle. The roof has holes in it for said application.

Shortening it doesn't change its installation, it'd still require drilling holes into the roof for mounting.

There's a few threads covering roof racks and I'm sure I've seen one or two named that are the "clamp style" but with a few tweaks based on the door frame/opening.

Unless OP is saying he already has the rails mounted, then it'd be super easy to just match the cross bar type with that rail system?

If you decide to go with the 4Runner rack, you will need to shorten it both ways. Side to side is too wide, and front to back is too long. I think I’m probably one of the first people to do this with a 4Runner rack, I’ve had lots of questions about it.
I used nut-serts that crimp into the sheet metal hole you have to drill. I used a good quality silicon when installing the nuts, and the bolts. Zero leak issues from them. Not sure how this kit will look on an extra cab.

The OP would rather bolt them right through the roof... I've seen plenty for double cabs but only really crappy ones for ext cab....

    Ahh

I saw "temporary" and "quick solution...bolted" and I was thinking of those clamp-style that are available for newer makes and models.

But now you mean bolt through with permanent modification.

3rd Gen 4R setup is a good suggestion! There's a write-up or two around here.

Could always make your own with extruded aluminum for the crossbars.

I was just poking through the McMaster Carr catalog. I bet I could make a stunning and more practical set than what's available. Even get it anadodized black. Machine my own mounts.... I know what I'm doing this weekend...

    Oh for sure

The only real "custom" part of it are the side panels that people cut out on a CNC table

Aside from that it's just small mounts, hardware, and extruded bars
