Charlie, remind me where that stupid plastic pipe on the engine is that they replaced when your frame was done please..

 

You mean the heater bypass pipe that was replaced a year after the frame?

 

The same..some reason I thought you had the pipe done when the frame was done but perhaps I'm wrong

 

That was the water pump; I had that replaced because water pumps tend to go between 140K and 145K and they didn't charge me any labor due to the truck being disassembled. Ironically, Thompson Toyota replaced the water pump again for free not long after the head gasket job. The truck was leaking coolant because the water pump gasket wasn't installed correctly, and they gave me a new water pump for free.

I jumpstarted a 2001 Hyundai Sonata at Walmart today...

 

There's your good deed of the day.

 

And right before I encountered the young couple with Hyundai, I had a major trip down memory lane. My grandma bought a blue 1988 Buick LeSabre Limited brand new right around the time my parenrs got married (April 1988) and about a year before I was born (March 1989). She owned that car for 12 years, selling it privately and buying another new LeSabre in 2000; I was 11 years old when she sold the 1988 Buick, so I spent a decent amount of my early childhood on that car and have many fond memories! I did some grocery shopping for my parents at Walmart and encountered an elderly woman and her friend loading groceries into a LeSabre nearly identical to the one my grandma had!

The owner let me take pictures after I told her my story, and was happy to answer all my questions about her car. It is a 1990 Buick LeSabre Custom. My grandma had Limited, and the exterior darker shade of blue, but my grandma's car had the same interior color. My grandma had a Limited, and this is a Custom. The biggest differences are that my grandma's car had digital automatic climate control and plusher upholstery, but 1988-1991 LeSabres are virtually identical except for trim levels.

She bought it brand new right off the showroom floor at O'Neil, and it has spent its entire life in the garage...

Just shy of 152K original miles, which is incredibly low for a 1990 vehicle and chump change for a 3.8L V6!

 

Everything works, including the A/C, which is still R-12!

 

I am not actually decorating the truck until the weekend before Thanksgiving, but I bought some new light sets today and figure out exactly what I wanted to do...
