I’m new to the Tacoma world. When driving up any hills the truck rpm’s go up to 3000-4000 and it has a slight jerk. The rpm’s aren’t an issue but the jerk is what I’m worried about. 1800 miles on it.Is this a characteristic of the truck or is there a problem?

Are you always going the same speed or in the same gear when you get this "jerk"? Do you have cruise control on? That would be my guess, cruise on and the computer is doing the thinking for you resulting in an abrupt RPM increase and a "jerk" when it downshifts.

I’d say normal and give it time for it to smooth out slightly

I wouldn’t use cruise control on incline driving . Might be why you are getting a jerk . Trying to compensate for the incline not shifting properly . If u have ect in the truck might want to use it when on incline to hold the rpm better .

Cruise Control going up inclines isn't a great idea - turn it off and apply steady pressure to raise the RPM's -
$1.00 says the issue will go away.

4 cylinder Tacoma uphill incline doesn’t go hand in hand lol

This is where a manual transmission belongs...drop down to 3rd, 4500 rpms and power through.

Stock tune cruise control is pretty trash. Its almost unusable with the stock tune. Only way to fix it is to tune it. The tune makes cruise control work WAY better. I would say it completely fixes it and gets rid of that jerk you’re feeling. I had the same issue as you. Tune your 2.7.

Yep, these trucks are a little sluggish to begin with and it sounds like the 4cyl cruise control is trying to keep up. Heard the tune does help.
