i would pay close attention to the weight of the wheels. lighter is better. you will get better acceleration and handling with a lighter setup.

Can I get a link to these dirt cheap sub 20lb truck wheels?

Absolutely, most definitely, undeniably, not the same as a forged wheel, but this is probably one of the lightest, without a huge compromise in strength, wheels you can find... and relatively cheap by comparison.

The SCS F5 have a 18x9 +25 but I think you'll struggle to find something much more than that.

That would work, but those ones are 25 lbs...

What you add in wheel weight, you reduce in tire weight... :notsure:

Edit: but no Tacoma should run 18" wheels (purely my biased opinion)

It's because they're 18". I imagine you don't want 16" rims on a street truck anyway so I'll be surprised if you find anything much better.

I was thinking 17s with pizza cutters. The rubber band tire look isn't for me.

Are TE37s better than other options in terms of weight, inertia, and strength? Yes.

Are they a waste of money and you’re paying for the name brand? Definitely. But that’s a large part of why I wanted them.

Are people who try to bring you down because you have real wheels for your truck just jealous? No. They’re extremely undeniably jealous.

Respectfully, I contest the premise that with Volks, buyers are simply paying for a "name brand"... The engineers at Rays are pioneers in their trade and are at the leading edge of innovation in the wheel space. Not to mention a pristine pedigree in the racing world spanning decades.

I feel buyers are paying for a prestige product that meets both function and form needs of the automotive enthusiast. Moreover, they appreciate.:anonymous:

plenty of sub 20lb wheels (depending on size and specs) from companies like scs, konig, enkie, black rhino, FN, circuit, etc. ive even some budget brands selling them for under $200. as far as strength argument goes i certainly dont have the resources to compare. but id lean more on cast wheels being more than sufficient in a large sidewall truck tire application. seen many wheels cracked on cars but never on a truck with the exception of a rock jamming its way between caliper and wheel. i stand behind my comment that rays are overkill and overpriced. that being said i am considering them myself simply because i am a fan of the brand. running stock wheels for the winter and aftermarkets will be bought in the spring.

It's just a little bit like a Miata getting a King 3" remote reservoir lift and asking why people don't think it's worthwhile -- it's good, it's expensive but it's.. a little out of place.

Especially when lots of the trucks running TE37's are lifted, ruining their dynamics anyway. The dudes with the street trucks should be running them though for sure.
