You don’t need power to do a wheelie, and if you’re going to practice wheelies , chances are you’ll loop at least once. The Grom has 9 hp and I’ve looped it over 10 times already.

The height isn’t the issue as much as the longer wheelbase. When you’re looping off the back, the shorter wheelbase means less height to fall from. The other issue is speed, falling from ~10 mph is going to hurt way less than 20-30 mph on a bigger bike.
Haha, if I had a few bikes I didn’t touch I could squish a few more in there, but I already have to rearrange stuff to get the three bikes that I do ride regularly out. Plus, the BMW needs 1.5 car spaces to constantly be worked on.

The new job is good, thanks for asking! Commute is far but it seems very relaxed so far.

For me I love it for short trips around town. I horse around on it so much and do things I would never try on a bigger bike. I am always trying to stoppie when coming up to stop lights or take turns hilariously fast. The other day I was dragging peg coming into a parking lot.

The limits of the Grom are so low and the bike is so easy to ride you can get away with a lot of shenanigans on it.

That’s basically it, a dirt bike with 17” wheels and street tires.

Smaller wheels and tires, longer travel suspension, upgraded brakes compared to a dirtbike

I don’t think the suspension is longer travel? At least not with the DRZ I believe.

the suspension isnt normally touched that i know of? its normally just what ever comes on the bike. upgraded brakes are a thing but just to a larger rotor to my knowledge and larger caliper.

i think that was meant to say longer travel suspension vs a street bike

EDIT- a true supermoto will likely have stiffer more street oriented suspension though thats highly track dependent (IE asphalt jumps, dirt jumps, dirt sections etc)

Well then we get into what is "technically" a supermoto or not lol. DRZ is classed as a supermoto but i don't think they'd be competitive in a true supermoto race unless it was specific to DRZ's or street legal/factory.

Depends if you're on the purist side or just "supermoto is supermoto"

for sure not the drz400sm has the least amount of travel for a dirtbike. the s and e model has more travel on its conventional vs the drz inverted

I think once you are done putting the mega miles on your big bike flying past all the cool little towns you should setup a Grom as a adventure tourer and hit only the back roads that you flew right on by. I could see you as the guy that takes a Grom around the world.

My point being I don’t think any supermoto has longer travel suspension than the dirt bike it was based on.

just a couple of things tbh
but at the end of the day most see it as 17" wheels and street tires on a dirtbike the technical stuff dont matter to much all i know is its a load of fun and can take you alot more places then just the street!

yeah I misspoke, the suspension aspect was compared to a streetbike. other wheels and brakes compared to dirtbike
