Very true , I read an article a few weeks ago saying it was under 100 trucks . Toyota scoured online threads , fb ect looking for complaints as well

Yeah there are going to be some teething issues. That is with anything new no matter the manufacturer. Look at Ford’s 6.0 International diesel engine. Or the V10 that liked to shoot spark plugs out of the head.

I do like the Fords, but Toyotas have treated me very well over the past 30+ years. Why change now, ya know? Wish they made a 3/4-1 Ton, but think we are going to try and make a Tundra or another Tacoma work for us just so we can stay with the brand. Was looking at some fairly big travel trailers that would require a 3/4-1 ton, in all honesty really don’t want to tow anything that big, especially on those narrow back roads I tend to seek out.

Have they figured out what the problem is and how to make sure it doesn’t happen again? Was it a bad batch of bearings, a design issue, oil weight issue, etc?

    Say, hypothetically, I was a l
    Just wondering the same thing.

Did they spec. the bearings for a non-blown (NA) engine, I wonder?

I’ve never owned a Lexus. But the GX 550 looks like an interesting vehicle to me.

I really wish Toyota would disclose the next gen 4Runner.

V35A-FTS has been in use since 2017 in the Lexus LS500 (with more HP @ higher RPM). Quick google search shows no engine issues. Same engine in the LC300 and Sequoia, quick google search shows no engine issues.

Does that mean the Tundra engine problems aren't real or do Tundra owners just bitch more, making the problem seem larger than it is?

Would toyota use a cheaper supplier for any parts on the tundra engine over a Lexus?

I'm guessing the tundra has a bigger voice online so you hear more about the issues.

iForce Max is the prize, and current V6 owners would do well to ignore the December 2.4T hype train, and patiently wait for the real deal to come later.

It is a little ironic to see current Tacoma owners get turbo-lectured after Toyota’s own engineers spent decades reinforcing the virtues of their V6’s over turbo fours. Very reasonable now that many Gen2 & Gen3 owners just don’t want it. Yet.

However, for the millions of RAV4 owners who currently feel somewhat soft & anonymous and were long ago acclimated to 4 cylinders making 180hp, the basic 2.4T Taco will be a complete revelation.

Have zero interest in the hybrid, am sure most average people do.

Had a RAV4 loner for a week, more than enough power for me.

Owned 22R Toyota trucks in the past, my 3rd Gen is like a rocket ship. Think the hybrid is beyond overkill, if the mpgs are indeed better, don’t think the upcharge will be worth it.

If I feel I need extra power for towing, then just buy the non hybrid Tundra at that point.

I was just reading that Ram is getting rid of the Hemi in the 1500 and going with a turbo 6.
Everybody’s getting turbos whether you like it or not.

And eventually, we're all getting electrics whether you like it or not.

For the record, I do not.

There are some engine issues with the LC300 that are identical to the Tundra bearing issues, most of them are coming out of the Middle East. I can't located it at the moment but on the Tundra forum there was a couple of posts from guys in the ME that know about the same issue.

The previous owner of mine never changed the oil, thus the chain guides went boom. Have a spare running 1fZ-FE? :p
