Yep. Kind of pointless to debate a motor that Toyota will never sell again after this year.

Probably more relevant for today, I’d be curious to know if Toyota is already planning on replacing that basic 2.4T with another hybrid. Maybe another reason to hang on a year or two and let things unfold.

For many including myself the manual transmission option trumps any power numbers. Also, Toyota’s 2.4 is very similar to Ford’s 2.3… I went from a 3rd gen v6 manual to a 2.3 Bronco manual - It’s not even comparable how much better the turbo 4 is. The turbo 4 also gets about 5mpg better in a vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick. You are getting considerably more torque vs. the outgoing v6. I get reliability might be a concern if u are somebody that’s gonna try to drive your truck 200k+ miles but the reality is that’s not 95% us.

Toyota has not announced plans to go all-electric, but Lexus claims they will be all electric by 2030 (North America) and 2035 globally.

My guess is a couple more years of ICE only, followed by a few years of Hybrids/PHEVs to get everyone used to plugging in, and then ICE is dead by early 2030s.

    Jaguar (2025)

Let me know when you can recharge in 10 minutes and go 500 miles. Oh, and find a charging station easily.

Why limit yourself to 500 miles?

I had a friend with a 96 4Runner and another with a newer Tacoma and they said my 96 LC rode better than their trucks. I suspect the new LC will ride just as well and be just as capable.

That's not correct. I believe it's 932 Km or 580 miles. Toyota put out a chart, I"lol have to look for it to double check.

I kind of like the new LC. Just hate the Toyota dealers. Reason we have Lexus and Chevy

I’m bummed that you can only get the new Prado in the US without the hybrid if you buy the GX.

I'm okay with the MAX engine in the LC250. Lots of power and lighter weight it looks like that of the 200 series and starts at $55k. Hell of a deal.
