Low brisket shot is surviveable. Some times theres white hairs near the shot.

I lost one small spike with a shoulder shot. It dropped to ground kicking, i went to go see it and it took off. Lost it over 500yds away as it was running off.

How do the blades on your broadhead look? Does it look like they went through the ribs?

It’s the neighbors cows so I asked a buddy if his former employer (a taxidermy/butcher shop) would process it if I brought it in.
His response: quarter it and tell them it’s an elk :rofl::rofl:

If the deer was quartering away, what can "look" like a solid hit, is actually too far forward. Muscle/brisket hit. They will bleed like hell for 100-200 yards and then......nothing. The lighter color is almost indicative of a muscle hit. The loud crack may have been a glancing hit off the near side shoulder. Got a pic of the bolt? Minimal sign on the bolt is also a sign of a muscle hit.

I wasn't ignoring any of the suggestions!!! Just still pissed off about everything. MAYBE, just maybe the buck had a SLIGHT quartering away angle, but if so, not very much at all. From all the responses and from a local friend, a muscle hit after a possible deflection off a shoulder blade seems the likeliest possibility.

I am including a few pics of the broadhead and fletching. The bolt was maybe 20 feet past where the deer was and just slightly into the ground, not buried at all. That tells me it went through something fairly 'solid' to slow it down??? The shaft has 'something' on it - not smooth feeling - deer residue??

NO vultures, ravens or crows above the clearcut this morning, so hopefully he is still alive and going to make it.

Again, THANK YOU EVERYONE for helping me out!!!!

Looks like brisket shot to me. Not enough blood to be a mortal wound.

Thanks guys! Not the biggest guy I have on camera but when he presented the perfect shot, I couldn't resist. Remember, never draw on something unless you plan on shooting it. :D
