Biggest concern was the previous owner looked like they were neglectful- doubt the PCV valve was ever changed, hose was cracked as were many vacuum lines, brake fluid was black, been frustrating fixing some of this shit.

Yes, you have to jack up the body a few inches on one side at a time (distribute the load with a block so it doesn't crumple under the force). Suggest placing spacers between frame and body while you work, so fingers are safe should the jack slip.

Was there a noticeable difference in ride quality doing the body mounts? Mine are shot like most the rest of the 20+ year old bushings.

I now have finished up my on-board air installation, with the added bonus of updating my rear-cab deck lids - more easily opened if a need arises.

Rear deck with the 2 panels with hinges:
    upload_2023-11-7_10-45-35.png

    (That black rail on the right is a beausage from my bikey bins - cut off stem and handlebar);

Since I am mounting the compressor in the cab, I needed a way to get power to it. Since I have an inverter power already, I split the cables using bus bars. This has the added advantage of expanding later on if needed.
    upload_2023-11-7_10-48-24.png

Glad I did research - saved a lot of time with interpreting the ARB included diagram and figuring out which wires I needed. Quite the pasta-bowl of wiring.
    upload_2023-11-7_10-50-53.png

To protect the switch and air outlet, I used an electrical box set back from the front of my extrusion frame.

None on my low mileage truck. I just did it to gain a touch of height to make the bumper line up

Ugh, I'm pretty sure I need to do this on mine. I think my front driver's side mount is toast. When I hit bumps on the driver's side, there is this thunking / clunking sound that I can't figure out, it isn't suspension or wheel related and everything else is tight. I think it's the mount. Also does it on the passenger side, but only rarely under very heavy bumps. I've never changed cab mounts out before - is there much to it apart from undoing the bolts, jacking up the cab a bit, and swapping them out? Is there enough flex in the cab to do them one at a time or do you lift the whole cab and do them all four one after the other?

There are 6 mounts. Two are under the radiator crossmember. You will need to pull the bumper to get those. I loosened all 6 mounts, then did one side at a time. Won't be able to lift the body if you don't remove all 3 nuts on a given side first.
If you don't lift more than 3 inches, probably don't need to worry about the fuel fill tube or the steering connection. There are a few how to posts on the subject here already that I read thru. For most, I think the hard part is corrosion on the threads. Penetrating lubricant daily for several days before hand, and heat on the nuts if they still stick may save the factory hardware for you

Thank you, I'll start looking for the how-to's on here. I'm not sure I have the space and such needed to do this at home, I might ask my shop who installed my lift to do this for me $$$. But we'll see. Attached are two photos of the mount I think is causing the most issue, it's the one that's close to where your left foot sits as you drive, that's where I hear and feel this clunking from. Looks like it might be toast?

Been a minute since I've posted.

Pulled the alternator out to get it tested. Was super unhappy when it tested okay. My truck's killed like four or five of them over the years, I figured this was just another kill.

Sooo then I put the alternator back in :anonymous:

Going to look at the battery cables tomorrow (hopefully).

In other news, I made time to Fluid Film (taco sauce? ) my truck tonight. Ready for that road salt now!

FWIW, I did this on my ‘98 3rd Gen 4Runner not too long ago and it helped ride quality a lot, also solved a weird clunky noise/feeling
