A few times years back I would take the metro train from Pasadena to the games, it has a stop right there in front of the stadium. Really convenient if you plan on getting hammered at the game or after. One time I fell asleep and missed my stop on the way home, train went halfway back to downtown before someone woke me up and I got off. Had to walk like 7 miles home at 2am lol. Fun times

Oh man, if the Kings lose like that to the Pens of all teams on Thursday, I will have to consider my daughter a bad luck charm and never take her to a game again

    @Speedytech7

So, the customer I told you about that's using those tiny little actuators brought in his project, utilizing several plates I cut out for him in 16 gauge

    20231107_113149.jpg

    20231107_113215.jpg

Apparently, he knew in buying all those parts he was doing this just for mock-up purposes

So he's paying me for the job again, but this time it'll be on 12 gauge with some minor adjustments made

The first layers actually use much larger actuators while only the top plate will use two small ones

    20231107_113642.jpg

Plus side is, I'll be the one to weld it too

The welds were all done by his co workers at work

The other welds look fine, looks like regular production work, no whipping single pass.

Oh no, it'll more than hold just fine

It's about needing an aesthetically pleasing weld as the brunt of the weight is really MDF. Hell, tack welds will hold it in place

It needs to be aesthetically pleasing as all those things get judged

He said even the bolts, the way they're all turned (think of the screws on a wall plate for an outlet or light switch), all judged

The place he works at works on big rigs, trailers, etc so it's alll production stuff running high heat due to thick material

He said they didn't even bother turning down the heat really but that heavily distorted the 16 gauge

Is he building furniture? I had a guy get all uppity about bolt direction when I worked at Home Depot, he was instant we sold shitty bolts since the heads on things never faced the same when the bolts were cinched. Was a furniture maker

Custom lowrider bike build for competition showing

Every build has to be one off, adding as much custom work as possible

Makes sense about the furniture maker dude, but that's nuts I mean...he went to Home Depot, what'd he expect?

I was in the woodworking section of this forum and ran across a few named online stores specifically made for wood workers

Just specific latches, hinges, bolts, etc are all expensive AF

@Ozark_RegCab @0xDEADBEEF Did you know that the Southern Cruiser Crawl that I attend in Hot Springs Arkansas each fall is a non-profit fundraiser for the TLCA Live Like Lash scholarship.

This year's Crawl raised $30,000 to fund scholarships in 2023.

Here is the list of 2022 scholarship winners from the September/October 2023 issue of Toyota Trails. Cooper Lowery is a member of our local FB group attending U of A.

Sucks to be the Flyers lol.

You're at another game? I imagine they must be practically giving tickets away at this point

    That arena looks depressingly empty
