Good morning friends!!! Have a blessed day :hattip:

    New pole.

I go by a couple elementary schools on my way to work, does anybody put their kids on a bus anymore? My goodness the people waiting in line to pick them up or drop them off.

When I was in middle/high school I couldn't stand the bus, I was the 2nd person on it in the mornings and the 2nd to last person off of it in the afternoon.

My neighbor drove it when he was a senior and would let us have paper fights on Fridays.

We had to go down a gravel road to pick up a girl named Candy Cain (no joke) and one day he ask "who wants to be late to school?" we all said ME!!!

He drove off in the ditch and got stuck then had to walk to a house to call the school to get the tow truck out. We were 2 hours late :bananadance:

    Poll: first to vote! :bananadance:
I didn’t have to ride the bus on a regular basis. I rode my bike in grade school and rode with my sister in high school until I could drive.
There were a few times where I walked, or if it was raining I would get dropped off in the morning.

I rode with my brother to high school when he started driving then I drove when I turned 16. We didn't get dropped off and picked up like I see the parents doing now though.

Ok you are with me first one on the bus and last one off. 2.25 hrs to school and back. We had a student bus driver. When I turned 17 they asked me to come drive the bus, I declined as I already had a job and was making more money.
Now days it's putting the kids in the car and driving 50 feet to meet the bus. What happened to kids walking out the bus stop? I had to walk down our private mountain road in the morning and up in the late afternoon.
Have your kids wait for the bus.
I could go on but then I get into territory I can get censured for.
    Have a good day

They put us in a state of emergency so the National Guard could help fight the wildfires going on. 1 is about 40 minutes from the house, it's awful dry here.

Not yet, lol. I am gonna try to go Thursday and see about joining the local volunteer fire department though. Been out for about 20 years and ain't getting any younger.

I've been thinking about joining since we've moved but haven't been able to get there on their meeting nights with baseball. Since it ended last week I have this week free.

Us too very dry here we didn't have a good fall color this year. Burn ban also.
I sit on a creek in front of my house and that is my fire hydrant cause I'm in a fire zone 9 or 10 I can't remember. For those that don't know what that means if a fire breaks out our house is a total loss b/4 fire dept. can even get here:eek:.

Is it Fire and EMS or just Fire? I can't imagine going back myself.

That's why you should have your own fire truck!

I'm not 100% sure if it's both or just fire. I miss the fellowship with the FD, not the drama though. I remember going with my dad when I was young and I think it would be good for Cole to see what it's like when he can. Not sure how long I'll stay if it's the same drama, lol.

Kinda do drop ag. irrigation pump hose in creek at bridge and start pumping and spraying. That's the plan and we have lots of hose. Usually have 15 gals. of gas out across at work shop for fuel. Speaking of which need to get started on filling up for the winter.

Drama is the worst part of it... maybe ask them if they have any sort of Cadet program for Cole if he's interested. On mine, you had to be 14 years old and have a sponsor or a parent on the department. There were rules about grades and school hours and such too.

My dad served 22 years and after my 20, I figured I had done my time and now it's time to look after myself instead of everyone else.

I joined the one in N.C. at 16, stayed 12 and got out. Dad was there for a long time before he got out, his back had all it could take. His back was the reason he left the city F.D. too.

We have water points marked up and down the creek for the fire dept.
