Sounds like a good plan! There's lots of guidelines about keeping brush and timber back from the house/buildings etc for a fire break. Not sure the fuel burn rate on your pump, but if you know or can figure it out, have enough fuel to run it for 24 hours if needed. Practice makes permanent so do be afraid to run drills BEFORE you actually need it. Hopefully you have enough hose to reach the furthest point on the furthest structure.

Sometimes, if you can prove that you have things like this in place, your insurance can drop but your mileage may vary with that.

The whole business takes a toll on the body.. and now I am seeing commercials on TV about the foam that we used to use.

The one and ONLY thing I miss is those brief moments being on the nozzle putting the wet stuff on the red stuff. Nothing before.. nothing after.. just the peace of mind being on that nozzle.

Nope ins. goes up $250.00 per year cause of fire zone, gotta be within 6 miles from fire dept. Now with that said if dirt road .5 miles away were to get finished all the way thru we would be 2.5 miles away from station #3 and things drop.
Brush and timber away and 20' fire break in back of house. Just raked leaves out of back yard yesterday again, dog kennel/dog run.
Yep Yep and Yep I use it all summer long for our garden so used to getting it out and running it. I have something like 200'hose and 40' of suction hose and were at the closest point to creek is 75'.
I think we could talk about this all day.
    You are very helpful.:D

I'm not FD but every morning on the flight line I get to see the FD test their emergency response vehicles. They have a blast using the boom and the remote controlled nozzle. Making rainbows in the air like they just don't care.

Re: poll - rode the bus until I could drive. My older sister was too cool to drive me when she got her license… She still apologizes to this day.

I didn’t care though, I bought my first car at 15 before I could legally drive. Learned how to get it going and road worthy until I got my license. Never looked back..

My brother is 2 years older than me, when he turned 16 on Friday/Saturday nights his friends used to gather at the town next to ours. I would ask him if I could ride with him. He would say no. I'd call a friend of his and he would come get me and I would still be there

You should have just unplugged it, carried it out to her car, put it in the back seat and told her that her printer was now more mobile.o_O
