New Gen 2 owner. I ordered a tailgate lock and took my tailgate off until it arrives. I also ordered engine and tranny skid plates with optional cat shields. Researching other security precautions because I live in Seattle and my garage is too small for my truck.

I assume you mean lock as in the handle lock. May also want to look into these:

I used to live in Seattle and even the nice parts like Fremont and Ballard are not the same as they were 20 years ago. I had my truck broke into 3 times in 4 months in 2020. One broken passenger window later I moved.

I watched a good video that other day that gave advice to open the glove box and center console. He said to neatly set the things in the car out on the seat so they see it's not worth breaking into.

Maybe a locking gas cap. I feel for you.

Had a friend bend this up for me recently.

Works like charm and fits in the rear stash box.

    36 inches with a 6 x 6 inch crank.

Every time you unlock the truck the daytime running lights have a boot up sequence and turn white. If you start the truck soon after while they are still white, the lights will stay white when the truck is running. If you leave your truck unlocked in the garage overnight and just get in and start the car, your daytime running lights will be orange. With your truck running, you can change the color to white by turning on your low beams, and then turning the low beams off and the lights will reboot and turn white.

Nice  I've also ordered their engine/diff skid, transmission skid, and cat shields which should be here this weekend. Replacing my TRD Pro skid for a more complete setup.

I live in the Seattle area and suggest one of these:

    https://www.consolevault.com/

I’ve also considered lockable lids for the bed compartments such as this one from WildRock 4x4

Also, if you have a garage, then get a garage FOB for your key chain and remove the generic garage door opener from your vehicle. I’ve heard of people having their car broken into and garage door openers along with any documentation with an address on it being taken. Not only was your car broken into, but possibly your home too.

    Just some stuff...
That’s the one I bought originally. Now the camera doesn’t work because some little rodent got a case of the munchies. Lol! Need to replace the camera in it. Can’t buy just the camera from them though. They want $175 just for the camera alone. That’s nuts! When I originally bought the locking handle with the camera I could almost swear I paid around $180 total. Prices sure have gone up!

Well, I took the skid plate off and dropped it off at my local powder coater. Decided I wanted it black, also ordered tuff skinz matte red letters.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll consider them. The garage under my house, which was built in 1910, is too small for my truck or my truck would be in there. My driveway is also too short for the truck, which is why it's parked on the street. We've been lucky--we've been parking vehicles on our street for 21 years and have had only one window broken--no other property loss or damage (knock on wood). The Tacoma is probably more tempting to thieves than any of our other vehicles though.
