Well that's your definition of success, that's fine. The EV market in the USA is only 3-5% of sales. So you will probably be 150 years old when they reach the same market saturation as ICE vehicles.

My comment was more about Tesla vehicles. Don’t think they are a long term company for him. Musk will most likely sell it to the Chinese.

I don’t think they are very successful. I see very few Chevy Bolts on the road. There are a lot of Tesla Model 3s though.

Yeah 3-5% of sales is not successful to me. Doubtful if it will take 150 years. Once (if?) government mandates take a hold, maybe 20-30 years from now. Now if they truly left it up to market demand, yeah probably 150 years.

Anyways…any pricing on the 4G Taco yet? :)

Could be that people that can afford a 50k “status symbol” have a garage to charge it in, whereas if you can only afford a 25k Leaf or Bolt there’s a high chance you can’t charge it at home.

That being said when I see a leaf or bolt it’s more often than not it’s a company fleet vehicle.

Whether we embrace EVs or not rn, I'm of the firm opinion that they eventually will dominate the market & have the infrastructure to go along with it. I love my ICE Taco, but I believe at some in the not TOO distant future there will come a point there will likely out number ICE vehicles.

At one point CRT monitors and TVs not only dominanted the market, but that was all you could buy. Hell at one point a 42" Plasma TV was $11,000. Not so much anymore......

Same here, way more Teslas running around than econo EVs. A lot of them paid for by cashing out on the California real estate market and moving here. Many of them are finally able to buy their “dream car” and want to show how successful they are, they also complain about property taxes, the cost of groceries and utilities. Basically blew their wad for social status instead of being practical. Like the majority of Americans.

Predicted EV range with SS batteries is better than ICE/fuel. When charging stations are as common as gas stations (way less infrastructure required, any parking space/lot could be a charging station) and charging time is 10 minutes, why wouldn't you want an EV?

Range decay is my biggest concern. They need to figure that out.

We can afford either, much rather loose $25K than $50K. Just really nothing on the market to suit the needs. Cars a pain in the ass to haul anything bulky. The EV vehicles that are capable are pushing $100K…ahhh no. If I am going to spend that much for a vehicle it certainly wouldn’t be an EV pickup.

I want one, when they become practical and make financial sense. They have a long way to go.

Faster they climb, the faster they fall. :D

Much prefer Toyota’s taking it slow approach.

I don’t think you understand the amount of infrastructure required for a 10-minute charging station.

If they do get the range to 500-900mi and you lose 10% after 200K miles, that's still very good. If you are topping off every night at home and can top off when you stop at Home Depot or when you stop for lunch, fear of running out of juice shouldn't be a concern.

Infrastructure may not be the best term. What I mean is you don't need prime real estate and a store front. Even now, charging stations are at airports, malls, government building parking lots. Just like wheelchair ramps, charging stations will be required for all new construction. Charging will be everywhere.

I don't think market share is based on Turds personal observations.
