Haha, I cut it out trying to fit a second gas tank. Almost fit but pinion kept hitting and that didn't seem safe.

    Just checking in here.

Took my yearly trip down to Lake Powell last month, essentially a big reason why I turbo'd in the first place, and I got to say I was loving the new power going through all the mountain passes on the way down loaded heavy! Was easily accelerating up everyone of them as compared to previous years pretty much joining the big rigs in designated passing lanes! On top of that I averaged 18/19 mpg for the trip, which is also a much better stat than years prior.

About a month after that trip though, my AFR Sensor (Innovate - Bosch) was acting up. Coming down from the mountains one afternoon in 2nd gear open loop deceleration for an extended period of time it errored out to E8 (general sensor issues from how I read it) . Didn't think much of it at the time, just stopped and restarted the truck at the bottom to reset and went on my way. Well, that worked for another 2 weeks or so and then I started consistently getting E8 errors while just running around town like normal. After checking all my wiring and recalibrating the sensor a few times it still continued to error out, so yesterday I finally installed a new sensor and all is back to normal again...for now. Little disappointing/concerning that its only 5 months into the install and fried a sensor already, but reading reviews its apparently not uncommon for this gauge/sensor as of recently... Don't AEM and other brands utilize the same Bosch sensor though? Wasn't easily finding sensor issues with them though, but if my Innovate continues its shinanagens it might be time to look for a new one.

All in all, been loving the set up. Might be looking back into putting the boost controller back in and bumping up the boost a bit now that I got things working properly on my low boost numbers. Although, I still need to look into installing a 2nd cat before emissions next year. Have had the P0420 code due to emissions inefficiency since I installed originally, which according to Torque App I'm ~10 units above the max differentiation between sensor 1 and 2...reasons why I kept my stock exhaust set up just in case I need to slap it in for test time.

Maybe we should both get a resistor for the rear 02 sensor, that and fix some exhaust leaks.

What route did you take going to Powell and back?
I've been wondering how the truck would do going up and over on I-70 between I-15 and Green River.

The climb between St George and Cedar City on I-15 where it's all 80mph the truck felt much better than before the turbo, auto trans wasn't constantly hunting for Gears and going back and forth on the OD. The coolant temp peaked at 211°f with the heater on full blast though. It was interesting to see the line between open and closed loop just by a little extra toe while climbing.
I also wasn't expecting to see the altitude make such a difference in the boost numbers. Up at around 10,000 ft elevation the max pressure I saw was in the low 2's but down lower at around 2,000ft I was getting into high 4's

Boost is very affected by altitude. I'm around 12 at 2-4000' and like 4-5 at 9-10k'

I had the same problem with my Innovate long ago. Bulky equipment and required multiple recalibrations. Basically every time the battery was disconnected for too long, another calibration was needed, or a problem with the sensor would occur. I ended up ditching it, despite how much I liked the gauge.

The sensors between a lot of the brands are the same. It is just the controls for that sensor that changes.

The AEM is by far the easiest to deal with.

Yeah the UEGO seems to last the best and never asks for a free air calibration

I took 15 all the way down past Beaver, then over Highway 20 to 89 and then down. Two passes going that way are pretty steep, Scipio and the one just north of Beaver are pretty good pulls that I was quite impressed with. I don't recall the elevation on them but I want to say they get up to somewhere around 7-8k for each. Highway 20 going over to 89 is an easier pull, but coming back the opposite way is much steeper quicker that the truck dealt with very well as well. All in all it was much better than before for sure.

I have thought about the resistor situation myself, but I think I am going to be able to get by with just resetting the ECU a couple weeks prior to testing all my emissions checks are green, its just that P0420 code that pops later

First time I took hwy 20 between 89 and
I-15 was in a tow truck after I flipped my second gen. I got a no seatbelt ticket and a speeding ticket even though I was well under the posted speed limit on 89

Before the AEM UEGO came out I got a depo racing wideband. It's still in my truck, but the display is starting to die. They both work the same, just AEM is easier to get.

@Speedytech7 what clutch are you running? You said you were spinning it. I spun my Lce pro clutch today. Thinking of the next one up but don't really want the added pedal pressure for the trails.

    98 Tacoma V8 (LS1) swap
LS1-T56 swap, Z06 ported heads, cam, Titanium valves, Kevlar clutch. Now building a forged stroker (383) and all the ponies! Old setup was rod-knockin on heaven's door...
Yo guys, been a while as usual.
SO long story short, that small tap in the engine quickly became louder and louder, it's had a slight tic for years but once I added boost it became much more pronounced and as I was driving on the freeway next to a large wall I could clearly hear the noise reflecting back at me and it was nearly becoming CLACK instead of a little click...well I excited the freeway at my exit and pulled off the road into a parking lot and shut it down.

I let it cool off for a few minutes and started it back up and quickly shut it down since it was sounding as if the rod bearing had left the chat on one cyl.

So that being said she's ded. Well all that really did was push my timeline up much further than I had intended, and I recently had some major shoulder surgery so Im still a 1 armed person that can't do as much as I would like to, but I needed to fix it so I can get back to racing again, or more like winning, haha.

I ended up getting a setup from Summit racing, I was thinking about building a 5.3 aluminum block but was having a hard time finding them for a reasonable price, some people DID NOT get the memo that Covid prices are no longer valid, lol.
I was doing this thinking that the LS1 (late production block) was not especially strong but apparently they are just fine with forged goodies inside, with the power Ill be making anyway.

This is a better option for the reason that displacement is a good thing for power and torque. Starting from a 5.7 is just better than 5.3 when all things considered (besides fuel economy) but if I was going for economy I fucked up a looong time ago! And I work from my home shop so I don't have to drive much.

I ordered the ProLS rotating assembly kit and I'm boring (very slightly just to clean it up) and stroking it to a 6.3L. I should have all the parts by the end of the week so Im gonna see if my one armed ass can get that engine out somehow, gonna be quite difficult but I'll figure it out.

It will be nice having it all dialed in, and with the longer rod/longer stroke setup the torque should be ridiculous! I have a funny feeling that this motor will have the ability to make so much power I might just end up pulling it from the Tacoma and put it into my Camaro and run twins for all the beans and find an Aluminum 5.3 to put into the truck since it can only use so much power before it becomes a burnout machine in every gear!

What I am trying to do is figure out how to adapt a 4wd system into my Taco so I can actually use some of that power for traction instead of friction, haha.

Hope all you guys are doing well!!

Hmm how's the pedal feel in stop and go. Also do you do any technical 4x4 rock stuff? Don't want a banger here.

It says holds 40% over stock. Stock being 220ftlbs. So 308 ft lbs. Obviously the stock doesn't slip at 221. The Lce pro is rated at 300ft lbs. So basically the same as the Exedy stage 1.
