Not everyone can afford a house and apartments and condos are not going to bother to install electric chargers unless government puts a gun to their heads.

So where are people going to charge their electric vehicles?

Local leaders here in California have said that retail outlets are going to step up and put in chargers so people can charge while shopping, they also suggested that all the gas stations that are going to be shut down can be converted to electric charging stations.

The reality is if you have an electric car and aren’t fortunate enough to own a house in California your charging options are nonexistent.

Huh? LA county has 10 million people but only 2,000 chargers. That seems like a problem.

The google says the average cost of a commercial charging station is $7,000 - 10,000 but there are tax incentives for businesses to install them and you can "charge" people for the convenience. It also acts as an incentive for people to frequent your business. I'm sure the number of charging stations will increase dramatically in the next few years.

Who’s paying for the electrical service upgrade for all of these properties?

I was simply referring to losing market value, which was already overinflated. Slashing prices was triggered by increased competition in the sector that's well known. It's also known fact that they falsely advertised real world range and Mercedes beat them to level 3 autonomous system, an area they should have had a massive head start in. They arrogantly didn't bother to implement LIDAR thinking camera's and AI were simply enough.

Plenty of federal and state incentives for residents and businesses to install chargers. Just gotta look. It's starting to be a good business decision for some businesses to install chargers.

That would be what the $7-10K is for (less incentives). 240V drawing about as much as a water heater/furnace (but only for the 15 minute top off charge). Pretty sure most commercial properties can handle that just like everyone who gets a level 2 charger for their home.

Do people think these chargers need it's own nuclear reactor to charge a car? It's like using a clothes dryer. lol

I don’t really know how they get their information. But if you Google chargers next to my house and punch in the directions, some of them will take you to an empty lot that may have had a charger at one point, the charger isn’t working or available to the public, or there are three chargers at a Safeway that are always occupied.

*I would also point out that EV apps typically list chargers at a hotel as “public” even though the hotel typically won’t let you use them unless you are staying there.

*I also did some more digging and apparently they are listing EV chargers that dealerships use for their electric cars, even though most of them will not let you use those chargers either unless you’re there on business/service.

I also noticed EV Go keeps popping up most often in the search results, at least five of them are the same charger, just affiliated with a different store in the same shopping center.

And I’m not “in the sticks.”

I'll say it. My biggest complaint is that the switch to EV is happening faster. Nothing to do with climate change, I just think an EV with a SS battery would have power and range that exceeds ICE configurations, more interior/storage space, more reliable, less maintenance, and (soon) more "refuel" options - home, parking lots, businesses, charging stations.

Would think you would be overwhelmed with joy seeing us knuckleheads keeping this thread off topic. :p

EVs just aren’t ready for prime time. Rome wasn’t built in a day either.

Numbers and graphs don’t necessarily tell the whole story what is happening on the ground. It will eventually happen, most likely not in my lifetime. Not going to loose any sleep over it.
