Do you know what they are going to do with the crash bar and the other plastic behind the bumper cover that got cut off for the steel bumper? Will they replace all that to stock? Not that it matters (besides having to make those cuts again), just mostly curious.

I didn't put the crash bar back on, so it's going to come back to me with no crash bar.

What plastic are you referring to, that got cut off for the steel bumper? I had trimmed a few of the pieces that surrounded the radiator. I assume they will reinstall the pieces that I had trimmed, unless they are broken, in which case I'll probably get new ones.

The actual bumper cover will be delivered intact. At this point, my plan is to put it in the garage and hold on to it until I decide what my next step is with the 4Runner.

I think they are putting on new fender liners, which I asked them not to trim. I cut the original ones when I did the viper cuts on the bumper. But, in hindsight, I wished I had tried heating them up and reshaping them to follow the bottom of the bumper as I had cut it. It seems like this would keep more mud from getting splashed into the bumper cover, etc.

    Yep, the radiator baffles.

Oh, yeah. I still remember trying to fit everything together without cutting them. I'll post some pictures as I pull everything back apart and reinstall the bumper.

    Haha!

No, and no. Well, I'll say "highly unlikely", and no.

Right now the plan is to leave it alone for another year. Although, I don't know how much longer these Bilsteins are going to hold up.

I want to see what the 6th gen is going to be like. If it looks like a better platform, I'll be tempted to trade in for one (after I let some other people field test them for a year or so).

There's also the outside possibility of trading for the new Landcruiser. I really like it, but I want to see what the potential is. And, I'm not sure if it will be affordable. That's going to depend on a few things.

Otherwise, if I decide to keep the '19, I'll start planning the next series of mods. Suspension again, full bumpers (maybe), sleeping platform V5 :notsure:, or just keep it as is.

I really do like those new ones! They're just a tad pricey for me. And, I doubt they're going to be giving any discounts right away. I can only hope they sell like shit.

I know you guys will help me get things evened out. :D

You know what's crazy? A lot of people still don't know anything about rust proofing. I have co-workers who think it's just the way it is to have your vehicle rot down to a pile of rust after like 5 to 8 years. I'm slowly spreading the word lol

I hear ya, but every vehicle I've owned rusted out at the bottom of the doors and rocker panels.
I use to just give my 1st gen a annual flat black Rustoleum undercoat after new recalled frame was swapped.
I mentioned earlier, that I hadn't heard of fluid film until T.W. this summer. I was aware of Cosmoline.

also a lot of people think they'll just have the dealer do it when they buy a car and be set

Well I can assure you that with rustproofing when done properly doors and rocker panels definitely don't rust. The place I go to pulls the plugs from the rocker panels and sprays with the wand inside the holes and then they also spray in the doors too.

But you still have that battery pack which eventually has to be replaced at a cost that's almost the trade value of the vehicle.

I like the idea and think companies should focus more on hybrids like this vs full ev until battery technology and charging infrastructure improves.

for truck stuff, Im not convinced you can ever get to the point of full ev with the power demands.

Give it time. 30 yrs ago nobody thought there'd be an electric vehicle.
Back in the 80's we all thought cars would fly by now. lol

we should do diesel electric hybrids. diesels are super efficient and clean at a constant rpm. the refueling infrastructure is already there. no issues with range.

I dont doubt electric will become a bigger thing in time... but theres a whole lot of things that need to happen before it takes over from ICE.
