I remember about 30 years ago when there was a big push by the Europeans to make cars more pedestrian friendly.

I can’t imagine how that thing would not literally cut open any poor son of a bitch it runs into.

I know people who work for Tesla and when that fucking concept car was first shown, I was like “Elon has got to be trolling everybody” and they were like “no, he’s dead serious on building this vehicular abortion.”

If it actually makes it to production I don't see it being any more than just a useless status-mobile

The new Ram Charger will likely be a huge success. Pretty much what I’ve said I’ve wanted for a long time and addresses most complaints about EV trucks. No range anxiety, full size half ton capabilities, cheap electric operating costs for daily use but fully capable of a cross country drive with no charging problems or delays, conventional looks, etc.

I can already see the SF gate article, wondering how this thing went into production when some billionaire’s kid fillets open a cyclist in Atherton with his new Cybertruck.

From what I remember the design is that the rear view mirror is always on as a camera since the rear window is basically non functional.

A truck is literally a bunch of boxes put together. How could he mess that up?

Still waiting for his semi to “revolutionize” the trucking industry.

I think that since this is a die stamped box and I believe only the doors and hood are separate items. Repairs to this will be tremendously expensive I would think.

There are some articles floating around about repairs to the Rivian being in the $30-$40,000 range FOR A MINOR DENT because of how the body panels blend into the bed.

I’m curious if they crank up your insurance premiums or just refuse to pay for those kinds of repairs?

It's pretty much a standard unibody. There are large castings for the front and rear suspension, these are welded/bonded to a standard looking unibody structure around the passenger compartment. Then body panels are attached to all of that. If you search Cybertruck BIW (body in white) you should find a fair number of pictures of the "frame"

I'm excited about the cybertruck, I even have an early reservation.
However I don't think I could possibly buy one. I like different, I'm a fan of tesla evs in general, and I think it will have the best charging and range of any of the offerings. I almost certainly won't buy one however as I cannot imagine being around others with it, it just screams "I'm a huge a-hole". A bright orange straight pipe dodge trx is less "look at me" than that thing...

I'm really curious to hear how the Cybertruck rides. After relegating the Tacoma to strictly truck work and using the Tesla for daily driving I've come to appreciate a non-truck like ride. The looks of the cybertruck are polarizing and I fall into the it is ugly AF camp. That said I'd sell the Tacoma and Tesla for a smooth riding EV pickup/daily driver.

Blind spots are solved by cameras and onscreen display. I don't even head-check changing lanes in my Tesla because the blind spot cameras put it all right in front of you.

What if it gets a little dirt on the camera? It's a truck, it's going to get dirty right?

    Right?..

WHat if your door mirrors get dirty and you can't see in them?
