I recognize the Vega… maybe Rusty is more keen with the others.
Maybe they’re still waiting in those 70s gas lines…

I spent the majority of the last three days converting 8 completely different formatted pdfs from this:

    upload_2023-11-8_20-25-11.png

    and this

    upload_2023-11-8_20-25-50.png

and this, which all look completely different.

    upload_2023-11-8_20-26-19.png

    into this

    upload_2023-11-8_20-34-13.png

Yes, it looks messy with everything turned on but if you narrow it down to just the bike rack locations, for example, you get this. Which is the same as the same as the first image I posted except this look a lot better.

    upload_2023-11-8_20-33-48.png

Bonus, since it's in Google maps, in theory you should be able to locate things with the GPS on your phone, but I haven't tried that yet.

Rode the bus from school to my dads shop from 1st to 4th grade. Always sat towards the back. Was about an hour or so ride. Went right by my stop but going the wrong direction so was the last off every day. Got dropped off and picked up after that until I got my license.

First and foremost, this is not a political post. However, it is fact and has to do with elections.
I work for a German global company. Our product is world class and used only in the most demanding machines.
One of my tasks, every month, is to report out to our board of directors via teams, on how we are doing, any risks, local economic news (local means North America in this instance) and the near term (12 months rolling) outlook. This is just one thing I do but anyway...
Our performance in North America suffers, sometimes not much but sometimes a lot, for 12-18 months every four years. Suffers is not a good word. How about "more volatile" or less predictable. Almost all private businesses, from Ford to your mom and pop stores do this as well. Ford, Cat and larger companies know this happens and tries to bring in additional business to cover the uncertainty. Smaller shops see things happening but don't have the in house horsepower to realize what is happening.
What happens every four years? Elections. This is what causes uncertainty in every market outside of government and municipalities. Never mind the party or who wins. It is the uncertainty here in North America that causes end users to either be cautious or go on a buying spree.
So, think back to a year before each election. What happened at your company?
This is knowledge that very few know or understand. It has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with uncertainty.
12 months leading up to elections and most businesses are all over the map because their customers are being cautious or optimistic, depending on their outlook. This is not about parties at all, just the uncertainty of elections, and how it affects every business.

Slight correction… governments feel it too. Will the newly elected have the same goals, priorities, vision? Will they shutdown newly started projects? Will they scale back or abandon? It’s the unknown that brings the shudders.

No, governments do not feel it. They do not cut taxes. They do not have to have a profit. They only expand slower or faster depending on outlook. Remember, it is our government's job to spend money, not make money, no matter which party is in power. Again, this is apolitical, just how business is affected by elections.

Front and center in red and 2 shades of rust we have the car often quoted as "almost bankrupting GM" from the amazing number of recalls and the associated reputation damage - the Chev Vega. This is the second series 1974 and up model identified by the energy bumper front end. There is another one lurking in the background.

To the left with the bent rear bumper is the not often seen 1965 Mercury Comet, an upmarket cousin to the Ford Falcon. It appears to be the more common 2 door sedan (door frames & a post) versus the more up market "Caliente" hardtop model.

Finally, adorned with a For Sale sign we have a 1966 Plymouth Valiant, a not so common hardtop model too. Although 2 versions of the Chrysler "LA series" 273 V8 were optional most Valiants came with the "leaning tower of power" Slant Six engine in 170  or 225 :) cubic inch displacements.

The 273 was the first modern Chrysler "small block" later versions were the 318, 340 & 360 and were used until the early 2000's.

Feel it a poor description for an entity like our government, but they are affected too. They get a cut off the top, a percentage of everyone's take. So if the outlook is poor and peoples/businesses incomes are lower, then the governments cut will be less. Though, it might be difficult to measure the effect for the average Joe, when the government account is Trillions deep. I mean a few hundred million on $4,700,000,000,000 has different feel to it...

I’m apolitical as well, but since I’m in the sector I have to point out the difference.
Taxes are income, no business cuts income as an adjustment in a downturn. They most certainly do have a profit, there’s actually coffers specifically for that, typically with usage guidelines. Changes in leadership (elections) can have a very profound impact. Budgets cut, offices abolished, tax changes. If CEOs and management of companies were rotated every 2/4 years by random people (not always remotely qualified), you’d see much more volatility in the segment. The well goes deeper, but I’d rather talk shop… I’ve been picking up occasional tools from a company called Tekton. Nice cost/quality. I managed to break a bit socket and an email with photo got a new one on its way! Have some stubbies, and other misc tools so far. Interestingly, when I buy from them directly, they have a cashback program… along with my CC cash back = free tools!
