    You're. Freaking. Kidding.

They are seriously the worst in the industry for this stuff. It's not even close. My 10 year old Nissan was better than my 2023 Tacoma in every possible way when it comes to the radio, GPS, audio, music playback, etc.

No offense intended, but I hope you didn’t buy your taco for the audio quality. o_O I bought mine with off-roading in mind. Audio components are way at the bottom of the list of concerns….just sayin

I didn't but had I known that paying over 1k for the shittiest GPS I've ever seen in a vehicle (including in cars that are up to 20 years old) along with how trashy their electronics are, I may have bought the Nissan Frontier. I legit like the Tacoma better as a truck, including in the looks department but holy jeez, their infotainment is fucking garbage. Ironically, when you swap out the dash tweeters it doesn't sound half bad. Not great by any stretch of the imagination but good enough for most people.

Getting the Alpine ILX-F511 from Trail Grid Pro solved a lot of the infotainment issues and eliminated the need for adapters for wireless CarPlay.

    https://trailgridpro.com/products/alpine-ilx-f511-plug-play-bundle-16-23-tacoma

I have this but the 9” may look like a better fit for the dash to some.

I have a dedicated portable Garmin GPS. Display-layout is far superior to in-dash system, and I can get updates for that dedicated GPS whenever, unlike "if you subscribe" like the Toyota in-dash.

Besides, in-dasj cannot move with me if I must leave the vehicle, and cell phone "network required" GPS is useless without the network. Granted Gaia/Trallforks/others can download "offline maps", but then you need to power the phone for GPS as well as talking ... and abandoning the vehicle means you want the phone to talk if you finally get a signal.

My fault for not test driving a vehicle with built in nav. But I seriously couldn't have imagined it would be THIS God-awful. In 2023 NONE of their "engineers" considered muting the music/radio when it has to give navigation instructions? Seriously? I've never seen another nav system NOT do that, even since the earliest days of vehicle GPS. Had I known how seriously flawed it is I wouldn't have paid extra for nav and I certainly wouldn't have paid extra for "pReM1uM aUd10." That money could have put in a MUCH MUCH MUCH better system with money left over. Or a different vehicle.

I think there's a TSB mentioned in this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/qi-pad-lifting-bubbling-up.629831/
Not sure I'm interested in getting it replaced and may be too late to take advantage anyhow.

Even Ferrari has been known to install useless sat-nav (ask the Top Gear crew, they will tell you). I have lived too long to expect something more-or-less-optimized for off-roading to be luxurious in all areas. And I have learned in those years that I must sometimes make my own "optimized" feature.

My 15-ft work desk optimized for easy movement underneath and 70-degree bend for stability, my holder for work-out weights holding weights at 2 ft and a 20-degree angle, my nightstand with flip-down sides for storing things easy-access, my bathroom towel rack that is as wide as a normal batch towel ...

I fix what I must, leave the whine for the cheese.

Didn’t buy the GPS bullshit but I did install all Kicker speakers and the sound is much improved. Agree the infotainment system is crap but I wouldn’t even think about Nissan…

I drive cross country almost monthly. Built-in Nav that is this shitty is a little more than a "whine." It's not like I got it for free.

Seriously, I could live with the stock speakers if I had to. But the fact that it can't properly handle a USB thumb drive is embarrassing. Most of the time, most of the options don't work.

My last vehicle was a Nissan and after 150k miles, had zero issues. The infotainment from 2014 was leaps and bounds better than Toyota's 2023. Nissan's 2023 is WAY better than what they had in 2014. From a truck perspective, I think the Taco is a better truck (though some of the issues that plague it are problematic - leaking timing chain cover, plastic manifold cracking, etc.).

Yep. My last vehicle was a Nissan. Fantastic vehicle. I miss it more every day.
