Happy Wednesday! Just got back from my weekly Wednesday breakfast with friends. A group of us retired guys get together every Wednesday morning for breakfast. It varies anywhere from about 6 to 12 or so of us from multiple backgrounds. There are doctors, business owners, police officers, college professors, trades people (electricians), and on and on, all retired. Fortunately our philosophies are similar and compatible, we all get along great. We just have a great time talking and solving the world’s problems. It’s a great social get together I really look forward to each week.
Now I’m off to do honey do’s and see what troubles I can get into.

A little something every chance we get.
One of two new WORK stands welded in house. This is on the trailer, and a bunch of the straps are already off. There IS one on the nose, to keep it from tipping to the back. But these stands are "portable", and as small a footprint as possible; it then got rolled outside the hangar to the shop door, and into the corner where the other pic was. The engines remain strapped unless said strap is in the way. These engines have not been produced since the late 40's - we just can't afford one "getting away"! That stand has moved two engines this month. Some day, when the 2800 is a static display, I'm told we will make a purpose built stand for that.

That's almost 10X the size of our hangar! It didn't make our news, but I bet I will be hearing things about it at the hangar. Almost everyone that is a hangar rat has served, and will probably be aware of the story. I hope there was nothing precious in there!

And so, Good Evening everyone. I didn't take a pic of the NEW LED fixtures on the hangar ceiling, but I will. They are an improvement for sure. Aside from the energy saving of ~60 Watts apiece, vs. the old 456 W, everything looks better! I did do detail on the R-1830 all day, so here we go!

Now this was a LOT cleaner than my old 2800 to begin with, and it works. So, I made sure of what I could do, and went carefully. Here's the before, in the shop, and out of the corner.

Alright, I admit too many pictures! But this one has all the parts! I was excited! No process, just the result, because it's an overall thing. (Yes, the magnetos on the rear are wrapped during all this. The only thing they can see is a WD-40 cloth when done.)

Hey! Repo Man! I'm not done! I better see where it's going, because I still have to do the magnetos!

Oh! We've made a display room out of the C-47 simulator cover! And they hung an extra one of the new LED fixtures above it. Now, I just need some show car mirrors!

A few finishing touches, and I'm pretty proud of my first ever R-1830 detail job!

Fired up my woodstove for the first time in the new shop... I shoulda built the shop 14 years ago when we moved here. I'm having way too much fun in it.

    20231108_140139.jpg

Geeze... the picture makes it look tiny. There's 12 feet between the stove and the wall on the left.

Not small at all. A very nice looking space. Until I clean garage of stuff I don't want, I'm :jellydance:

Zoie has a growing bump/lump on her belly. :(:frusty::pout::pout: It has grown since she saw the vet last in Sept. I put my hand over it and my hand is barely touching her belly now. Back in Sept, my hand was touching all around the lump. Cup your hand and that's how big this thing is. I have big hands if that tells you how big it is.... She is a big dog, about 80 lbs (she has lost a little weight in the last year due to her diet - she was 87 lbs 2 years ago). She goes in on the 29th for x-rays (to check for a hernia) and blood work. This morning I spoke with the vet I like, but he's only working part time now - which I didn't know until I took her in this afternoon. This afternoon she saw the vet I'm not fond of.

Prayers for Zoie. Dogs get lots of lumps and bumps. The vast majority are benign, most are benign fatty tumors called lipomas. Lipomas can grow quite large. Let’s keep positive thoughts that that’s what it is. I’m surprised that they haven’t done a needle biopsy. That is quick and easy and in a couple days they would have the pathology and know what it is.

Thanks. I had 3 biopsied done last year, but don't know if this was one that was done or not. She's got a dozen of them, all over. The ones done last year were benign lipomas. Doc was concerned about this one due to its size and location.

My sister, age 68, had a knee replaced. She said the recovery, PT, was worse that the problem. BUT that was six months and today she sings a different song.

Good Morning Everyone, Have a Great Day!

66.5 at the age I could go back to work and earn as much as I wanted and still draw SS and my small pension from when I was a teamster for 17 years. My last employer has an opening in the office I could take. But my wife would leave me, she's 70.5 yrs old.

Prayers for the pups. I have been lucky, Amigo is 19 1/2 YO and only been to the vet twice for serious problems.

How did you find the group?

@Oldie2007 Yes, the motor does need show car mirrors. As always, the pictures are appreciated.

Good morning. Had a nice long sleep last night and it felt good. I had the hearing test and a visit with the ear doctor yesterday. The fluid buildup inside the ear drum is gone but there still is a reduction in pressure. The nasal spray has helped, and I will continue using the spray. Today is a laid-back day for me. All the parts are here that I need to finish the grill restoration so I should be able to get that out of the garage. I do have a little bit of grill work, cleanup and ash removal, that will also happen.

Great detail job Kurt. Did my heart good to see the age group of fellows doing the restorations. Great group of guys. Keep up the pictures

Prayers Zoie's lump is nothing serious. My Grand dog Angus has fatty tumors and the vet says they are nothing to worry about, but they still get checked out. :fingerscrossed:Zoie is going to be okay .

Still a youngster...75 and still around enjoying life (other than therapy )

Surgery and recovery weren't to bad, but PT was a real pain but well worth it. No issues with walking and other activities like I had before the replacement. So like your sister, I am whistling a different tune (can't sing worth a damn, the wife tells me to be quiet )
