if rubbing alcohol wont remove it, use some acetone. years of working in shops has shown me buffing with denatured alcohol, or acetone will often remove a lot of paint transfer, heck make $500 from a neighbor who backed into my old car and no damage but some paint on my bumper, wanted to keep the "Accident" between us. I said id be back the next day, printed up an invoice from work and the estimate from our paint/detail guys. then gave it to her. she gave me cash that night. buffed it free in the garage and then buffed the area back. looked brand new

It happened last night. Ran inside, changed, grab a towel and alcohol before heading and wiped as much as I can. Have yet to see what it looks like in the daylight.

Hell yeah, something similar happened with my wifes car. Someone merged into her lane and tapped her front fender. Their insurance paid us out more than we were expecting so we just pocketed the money cause her car is 10 years old with over 300k miles.

Get ready for the "that's insurance fraud" crowd. Haven't seen it here much, but it happens. :)

Which of course it's not. You were compensated for living with the damage OR fixing the damage...your choice.

Many years ago was driving an 87 Toyota Celica home. The car was probably 15 years old then and in good condition but not pristine. A driver two cars in front of me decided to come to a complete stop to let a car merge in front of them instead of just driving forward, causing everyone to have to stop quickly. Everyone managed to avoid hitting the car in front of them except the guy driving the Saab behind me. He tapped my bumper but not very hard so we both pulled over and I went to get out to inspect the car and see if there was any damage. I was greeted by the driver irritably stating that "It was very poor driving to stop so quickly!" I just laughed to myself and went into a local shop to call the police. It took awhile for the police to arrive and the other guy just walked around and bitched the entire time. Cops came, did their report and left. It was dark and the car was black but I could not see any damage at all. Checked the next day and the plastic bumper cover under the car had some hairline compression cracks that would never be noticed. I took it in for an estimate then called the owner of the car since the driver was his younger adult son and told them what the estimate was. He asked if I would wait until the afternoon to call my insurance as he had not told his insurance yet thinking there was no damage to my car. I never would have pursued the claim if the driver had not been an utter and total ass.

Similar situation to my wife's. Kid driving his gf's Range Rover was visiting from FL (Im in CA). Some quick story about my wife, she's a nanny/assistant so her car is her job sort of speak. Ok back to the story. Wife was running an errand when it happen, as a common courtesy she messaged her boss...she assumed my wife needed help so she called her husband he spoke to kids dad which happened to be an attorney in FL. Yup, the story is that complicated. I didn't hear anything about til way later that day after all parties have gone their way. I was upset cause husband decided to make a deal with the kids dad to settle out of insurance so that gf's dad doesn't find out etc etc. Anyway, after that damage was done..we were left to continue communication with the kids dad. He was difficult to deal with. We got the estimate for the damage which wasnt much but she would be without a car, so she would need a rental. He wouldnt pay for the rental, we said, "ok, lets settle without the rental" and thought he would just venmo or wire the funds and we would just pocket the money cause the damage isnt really noticeable unless you look at it at an angle. He comes back with wanting to pay the shop directly and at that point, I said "nah, lets just get the insurance companies involved" and cut all communication with him. The way we saw it, if we do it the right way through the insurance. She would be covered for the damage, rental and any time she may have missed from work. Luckily it all worked out.

Anyway, ordered these fender brackets to help keep the fender pushed out and in place from @At The Helm The stock ones brokes months ago.

Yeah yeah it's long overdue for a revision. I'm just to lazy to itemize all of the changes and new things. One of these days I guess I'll get on that.

Honestly not much has been done since the last update except for a leakage fix and total rewiring of the tent, and a back seat delete to add the fridge/freezer. Some other little things here and there with the solar/dual battery config, ditching the traction boards, putting in some bedside charging/power ports, blah blah blah

Swapped out my TRD Pro Skid for the RCI today. I only had time to get the front engine/diff skid on before it started raining. I'll install the transmission and catalytic converter shields tomorrow. I love the way this looks, very minimalistic and clean.

Can anyone confirm if these mirrors will work/fit on a 2nd gen Tacoma? I really need to do this on the drivers-side mirror. I'm hoping they are a direct r&r swap. My son's f150 has similar mirrors and they really make a huge difference. Somewhere I think I read about this direct-fit swap. tia

Not sure about those, the link seems to be dead for me. But these will: https://spottermirror.com/p/toyota/tacoma/2005-2015-tacoma-spotter-mirror/
Sold by many other retailers too.

I found the old thread: It outlines using the RAV-4 mirror as a direct swap for a 3rd gen Tacoma to add the integral blind swap mirror. So I guess the only confirmation left is whether the 3rd gen and 2nd gen mirrors are the same/compatible. (direct swap) The part numbers are:
