just a couple of things tbh
ya thats what i figured but it looked neat lol
so the main goal isnt to ride on road unless i have to.. so something smaller cc wise would be fine since it would be short stretches for if i just had to.

ya thats why ive been looking at the 2 strokes out there from them they are lighter and put out good power and are better then the others on offroad strick use. i know about the crf which is nice but its a 4 stroke with the headlight and its more of a dual sport not a enduro same with the wr its a dual sport truly both good bikes but not really what im wanting to get. out here in missouri if it has a headlight and tail light it can be street legal funny enough so not to worried about that one lol

im trying to get my dad to get another bike to ride with other then that no not really tbh i would like more but most of my buddies are either into sportbikes or cruisers or have no interest in dirtbikes...... thats why what ever i buy it would be a secondary thing for trips where i do more offroad stuff and keep the klx as my daily run around toy on the street. otherwise id look into selling it and get a full on 501 for everything

A couple other things about riding Offroad:

Wear some rear armor, knees, elbows, chest/back protection and always real MX boots. No work boots allowed…run over your own calf with a dirt bike tire and you won’t ride again.

Take water en case you get stranded or dehydrated.

You will get a flat…eventually, so be prepared.

Always let someone know where you’re going and when you will be back.

Go with a buddy or at least tell him you’re rolling out to the trails.

If you can afford a Garmin SOS beacon device that’s good.

Chain maintenance, inspecting bolts and keeping the air filter is key to getting you in and out of the woods. Not keeping an eye on these things will bite you.

Keep your eyes looking where you wanna go and allow momentum to be your friend.

    Brapppp

ive ridden in the woods when i was younger on atvs and dirtbikes so nothing new just want to get back to it tbh and keep the sm as a around the town toy

ill need the armors but i have moto boots they are adventure style boots not mx boots but they do the same thing just with a tad more flex in them and grips on the bottom lol

flats thou i hate dealing with haha im not great at the tire tools on taking the tire on and off with i suuuck at it but can do it

Sounds like you know what you want. Get a dirtbike that you can sit in properly. If you’re not on the road then CC doesn’t matter.
Find something that has been maintained well and that will make a good first dirt bike.
Don’t spend stupid money either, you can find a sweet bike for 3-4.5k all day long that is seriously sweet. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy an older 2 stroke with low hours.
The newer bikes are a bit smoother in power delivery.

My ‘09 300xcw might have been the quickest bike I have owned to date. Out of the hole it was nasty.

Like was mentioned, I'd look at the 350 if there's any street at all. They weigh about the same (or less) as the the 250/300s, the EXC can be purchased in 50 state street legal form and will have a better resale value then the 2ts. Don't get me wrong, I like the 2Ts allot, I own a 300xc TPI but I also own a 500exc for any rides that include pavement. Having both takes away the necessary evil of riding a high strung 2 stroke on the road which sucks no matter how you spin it. If I have to do it all with one bike it'd be a 350exc all day long. If you're considering white red or orange austrian bikes, I'd suggest orange, they've been getting cheap on some of the components on the white and red versions, namely cheap chains and brakes on a $13K dirtbike.

ya this one isnt for road the only reason it would be on the road is to get trail to trail but if i find a 300 for cheap id grab it lol
yup sadly around here thou the main thing is honda and suzuki mainly so getting a ktm for 5k or less is very hard to do tbh... most of the ones out here are pricey and still new..

agree if i can find one at a good price id go for that but if not im fine with a smaller cc since it wont be on the road unless i need to get from one spot to the next
    pretty lol

Wishing I had a 300 for strictly woods stuff but I can cruise on this thing doing 55-70 when needed even after I regeared. It screams a bit doing it but I'd image the 300 would scream far worse.

judging by the wheel, exhaust and front fairing, I’m guessing it’s a Ducati 748.

When the times comes let me know. I can help find you a nice used bike in close enough proximity to you. I got some skills in that arena ;)

My goal is to get to 200 hours by the end of the year with nothing but oil and filter changes. A buddy of mine had his 2017 350 exc-f top end done at 350 hours and it still looked great. A quick look in this group is showing around 4-500 hours:

Agreed. When I bought my 1290 SD I was thinking, what the hell is on the front of this thing. Then you ride it and you don’t give two shits lol
Seriously the 1290r SD might be the funniest most comfortable street fighting bike I have ridden.
It was stupid to sell mine.

The headlights are funky as hell and I am about to put a Rally Raid setup on my 890r. They should be done with it soon enough.
