I’ve ridden some of the stuff that TrailForks calls Bears Best and also around Blue Diamond, between highways 159 and 160. It’s been a few years but it was good. The Blue Diamond community is worth checking out; park there and ride.

I know this is buried in this thread, but for those of you with moab type trails what tires are you recommending? Preferably not insanely heavy but don’t want them to wear like crazy or get a flat. I have the DHF/R and aggressors on one bike, butchers on another, have had wtb. I just ride bikes, too know to be super picky..but I’m due for about 6 tires haha

i....don't think i realized that CBI has a bike shop. lol.

by "moab type trails", are you talking about slickrock in particular? or just rocks in general? because if we're talking desert slickrock, just get the most used tires that you can. slickrock chews up new tires and you'll get great traction out of used tires on that stuff.
in any case, i tend to stick with whatever tires i have on there. tends to be either the assegai+dhr/kyptotal-r or the dhf/dhr. but again, more used than not. since desert season is at the tail end of riding season, my tires are a bit worn down and can use some desert to finish them off before i get new ones.

I usually get something with a decent sidewall and fairly (not over) agresivo lugs. That way I can ride all the CO Front Range trails and not have to change tires when I go to the desert.

Shouldn't it feel great after a full rebuild?

Picked up this '21 Stumpy Expert (XO1/GX, Grip2 Fox 34) for $2550 out the door at a local Specialized garage sale! Oh, 29lbs 5oz with swat box/cage and no pedals.

Berd folks, how have the wheels been for you? Hows maintenance and repair? May have a sweet opportunity to get a set and was curious.

It may not survive the weekend anyways! I have quite a few local hits on it already, just need someone to show up with money in hand.

    Wow, that's a hell of a deal!

Yes. I think this time they may have not put the compression/rebound knobs back to my optimized settings. I didn’t have my notes on me on what to reset them back to on my recent ride.

I only have two rides on my Berd spoke, Onyx Vespyr, NOBL Rim wheelset. So far I like them.

Is that tire backwards on purpose? I know a few who like certain rear tires flipped but not front. Just wondering, not criticizing promise.

It’s fine if you criticize that because I may have totally missed the directional arrow when I was excited to get the tires on the new wheels!

I’ll see if I remember to check before my next ride.

nice! berd spokes are such an interesting concept!

but yeah...that tire is on backwards. the easiest way to remember: the hot patch (the side with all the specs and stuff like "exo" or "dd") should always be visible on the drive side. for all the glamour-insta-shots.

I already broke the insta rules by having a Maxxis front tire and WTB rear.

Got home. Checked front mismatched tire. It’s on backwards. I guess I was too excited to get that new wheelset on the bike.

downside to disc brakes? I can’t just skip the front wheel around to fix the tire rotations

Ignore my slightly leaky sealant… the tire is almost worn out from sharp rocks. Lots of small holes that need to seal.

FYI - these WTB Vigilante tires have the sidewall print on both sides. No rotation mark that I can see. I have this on the rear and once the front wears out, I’ll put the same on the front.
