There is a YouTube channel called Truck King. The channel is a father and son team. While it seems the son does the bulk of the videos, whenever the father is involved he usually takes on the tell it like it is grump role.

Lol! I’ll have to check it out.

Do they start every video with “Hey Guys!”??? That shit drives me fucking nuts… when I hear that I murmur to myself “oh go fuck yerselves…” then click close.

This is the wild part about Toyota. My dads '93 Lexus ES300 that I learned to drive on still shares a bunch of switch gear with a '23 Tacoma. A luxury car and a pickup built 30 years apart and all the door handles, cruise control, mirror controls, wiper and signal stalks are (at face value) exactly the same.

Ha! Yeah they are good at parts-binning their vehicles. Think the door handles on the old Toyota pickups are shared with the 70 series. Probably never own a 70 series, but by golly I can close my eyes and pretend I do every time I open the door on my old Toyota pickup.

Believe that is part of the reason I have stayed with the brand so long, they all have that familiarity to them.

Have seen some of his videos, never paid attention to who it was, assumed he was part of TFL. (They all seem the same to me) Those videos can’t seem to hold my attention, tend to fast forward through trying to stop at what it think the good parts are, and never do.

Completely agree, they try to stretch 2 mins of useful information into a 20 min video. I don't think I ever watched a complete one. I'm not sure who it was but someone does or did these real quick videos about all the important info and right to the point. I think all the other youtubers took him out.

Yeah it is horrible, all trying to be artsy and shit. Tried watching his two Tundras going to the arctic circle. About all I got out of it, yep they didn’t break. Think they talked more about ice and the actual tundra than the trucks.

Still trying to see what happens to a hybrid Tundra battery doing a heavy loaded long pull.

I watch the videos muted. And I fast forward with the slider until I see something interesting.

Part of that is the YouTube algorithm. Videos under a certain amount of time make no money. So there is no incentive to make a quick and dense 5 minute video to quickly update people on an Toyota press release.

He has good production quality for sure. I like watching The Topher, he is a car enthusiast and I feel like he has the exact same taste in cars as I. He films 99% in POV which really helps to show what cars are like on the road.

He was very critical of the 3rd gen in the same ways I was, and I look forward to his feelings on the 4th gen:

You would think that, but it’s usually just access, some cheap trinkets, and maybe airfare. These people aren’t being wine and dined. This is like the equivalent of a six pack and a bucket of chicken.

You would be embarrassed by how little YouTubers and other influencers sell out for.
