2023 Driver Airbag Recall

Received notice today using the Toyota app that there is "SAFETY (NONCOMPLIANCE) RECALL 23TA08 - Multiple 2023 Models - Driver Airbag May Not Deploy"

Remedy

"Toyota is currently preparing the remedy for this issue. When ... available, Toyota dealers will inspect the serial number of the spiral cable and, if necessary, replace it with a new cable FREE OF CHARGE."

Estimates the remedy can be made available in Aug 2023

Just curious where you found the possible remedy availability (was it on your app?), I haven't found any dates on the interwebz. And have you heard any updates for the date?

Piggybacking off this thread. I received a “Toyota Airbag Control Unit Settlement” in the mail about what I believe to be a class action. Has anyone received this?

The Airbag is not the problem and it is not recalled for 2023.

Please fix your title and wording as it is misleading.

Only one way to test if it will deploy.

 

I receive one of these class action suit notices and then I got another notice that basically said I got the first one by mistake and that I was not part of the suit. So, when I was getting my wheels swapped at the dealership I asked about it the recall. I did not bring up the class action suit. They said that they could inspect mine to see if it was affected, but that if it was they had to hold onto my Tacoma while that part was ordered. And the part is backordered. I opted to not let them inspect mine for now. I'll wait for Toyota to get caught up with the part.

 

Anyone have this recall done lately?

 

2023 done a few months ago and the dealer had the part in stock
