2020 Tacoma OEM LED Headlight Megathread

Do you hate chrome or pro badging? Whichever you hate more, order the other one.

 

Fuckkkk. I hate both.

 

Most of us as well. Hence tough to make a recommendation. I went pro and I’m not sad. Mikey (OP) went non pro and put even more thought into it than I did. If you want to bake and crack them, buy the pros and remove the badging, it comes right out. But that’s some tricky stuff.

 

I went NON-Pro... my truck has very minimal branding. So why start now!

 

Just passing along that Toyota of Decatur is having a sale again that ends on Oct 21st. Just snagged these.

 

I ordered the LED lights during their last sale and still waiting on them. It’s been about 3 to 4 weeks since I ordered the lights. Surprised they are running another sale when they are still trying to fill orders from their last sale.

 

Well that’s definitely disappointing to hear.

 

Good morning team Tacoma;

I have a set of Mike's conversion LED harnesses, never used, that I will be listing in the classifieds along with a bunch of other small "bits and pieces" from my Taco. I recently moved up to a Tundra! I know this isn't the classifieds section, but wanted to make sure anyone following this thread and looking to do the conversion saw it specifically. I'll get them posted this weekend, but anyone wanting to not wait can drop me a DM.

Just ordered.

 

Got my OEM led’s in one has a speck in the housing. My concern is that the seal is compromised and moisture will build up inside.

What’s y’all’s thoughts? Live with it and roll the dice or try to get it replaced now??

 

I highly doubt that the speck you're pointing to will lead to a functional issue down the road. It's more of a cosmetic defect. That said, if you just plunked down your hard-earned cash for a set of new headlights, I'd take it back and ask for a new one.

 

See if you can exchange it.

 

Mine arrived today, well packaged and in good shape. Will install this weekend. Here is a look at the package from Serra Toyota of Decatur.

I posted a Buy thread in the 3rd gen b/s/t subforum, but I figure I'll post here as well.

If anyone has a Damaged, but Functioning OEM led headlamp (e.g. still lights up but lens is damaged/cracked/missing pieces like after a wreck) I would like to buy one (or a pair if both are in similar condition).

I am Not looking for a lamp with broken tabs- there are now repair tabs available that look very well designed- I am looking specifically to see if it is possible to swap the LEDs for something somewhat compatible in a not 60,000k cold white.

Got mine today. Very well packaged. Checked everything over and all is good. When I had time to install them I had no lights.
Now I got the lights and no time.

Oh well.

 

So the dealership agreed to replacing this headlight and paid for return shipping but this is where anything postive ends. It shipped back to them via UPS. Was suppose to deliver over a week ago and is now lost within the UPS system. Serra Toyota is ghosting me about situation as they created the label so I'm unable to take any action with UPS.

At the end of the day "getting a good deal" from a out of state dealer has costed me more money in the end! I'm out approx $600 over this headlight. Moral of the story I should've bought locally and paid full price for the headlight as I would've been ahead in the end.

Avoid Serra Toyota as if anything goes wrong, your out of luck!

 

Dealer's probably waiting for UPS to do their lost and found before UPS insurance coughs up for a replacement. After that, they'll probably ship you another.

 

But the fact they are ghosting me about this doesn't set well with me. Just a simple acknowledgement about what's going on would be sufficient and it is what it is at that point. I'm left with feeling like I've been stiffed and at this point I'm not sure I want to invest anymore money into this upgrade and might sell the passenger headlight I have and the SR5 conversion harnesses...
