That's not Okra. Those are thick slices of Jalapeño peppers, seeds and all.

I will have to see what the stores around here have. Ya I was thinking to use cream of chicken or something seeing as most of the other things will be the predominant flavors.

Nothing sounded good tonight so I settled on some chicken fried rice I found buried in the freezer and gave it a splash of Bachans.

More freezer spelunking. Chicken filled with pepper jack cheese and bacon with some mashed sweet potatoes.

It’s pouring down rain here in Seattle. With time change on the near horizon. That means all things comfort food. Slapped together a quick ABC pie for dessert. Apples, Blueberries, in a basket weave Crust. Apples were sautéed in a butter, brown sugar, and bourbon sauce which was then reduced and thickened for the compote. Not the prettiest…but the flavor is phenomenal. When I set the clock back 1 hour tonight, I will also set back the scale by 10 pounds.

    Yeah.
Mmm, apples and bourbon sounds like a good combo. Blueberries for the antioxidants. That right there is some good health food.

I like pie. No birthday cakes for me, just a cherry pie.

Cake is not my thing either. I will make them upon request and for special occasions but will always gravitate to a nice warm slice of pie with vanilla ice cream. Was wanting to make cherry but the price of a can of pie filling has skyrocketed to $5 a can. Nope! Not when blueberries are free and apples are cheap.

Beef stew and biscuits, it is that time of the year.

Must add balsamico and stilton to keep my son happy.

"empty the damn freezer" mac and cheese. Block of cheese, pound of buffalo chicken @Scrovak made for a camping trip, a bit of (didn't measure) thick cut bacon sliced up, and 1 1/2 smoked sausages (hot Italian? I didn't label them) sliced on the food processor pretty thin, and a mason jar of chicken stock I boiled the noodles in - all were in my freezer needing to be eaten :D

Boiled elbows. Then cooked bacon. Removed bacon from pan, grease left in. Deglazed with a white wine, then added some more butter and flour for a roux. Kinda a Mickey mouse version using bacon grease in there too but it came out great.

Have to take a picture of it when I eat lunch today but made a big pot of Chili yesterday. Temps have dropped here so was about time for it. :)

Was good, woke up this morning and you could still smell the spices lingering in the air.

My wife bought all the makings for a batch of chili but we haven't cooked it up yet.

One silver lining to one of my kids not eating meat - we cook the hamburger separately and just add it to our own bowl so I can decide how much of a carnivore I want to be. :D
