My two cents… agree with 2-3 inch lift and 33’s and recovery equipment. Most obstacles you can bypass except the rock garden and the last obstacle. Got hung up on my slider on the last obstacle.

That's great! If I wasn't tied up with other things I'd offer to help also.

    2-1/2 weeks!

    Well dang.....

I'm on the fence... this thread is really making me wish I had 33's... good with lift & armor but curious if my beefy 265/75 (31s) are enough.

I'm also in NJ all week for work & getting back Friday the 17th so not sure I'll have time to get everything squared away before the trip- if not filled/ closed I could be a last minute yes addition!

I have a few minor things to work on this weekend other wise truck's ready!

I've been meaning to ask about camping. Not sure if we'll make it Friday night, but are there any camping plans for Saturday?

If you want to stay at lower elevations there's a bunch of stuff of I-17/dugas but would prob suck if winds are up cause it's all open grassy area with no wind breaks
As you wind up the rim on general cook tr there's a bunch of FS roads as you get closer to the 87 should have no prob finding a spot out there.
If you want to get closer to Payson but below the rim there's a few spots off control road just below pine before you hit tonto bridge state park

Yeah I will probably stay low with everyone that wants to stay out another night. Thanks for the info. Hopefully the wind is calm.

Being new to the state we're good with wherever long as it's not a 6 hour ride back to the Valley on Sunday.

@Yacob_D and @KingOfTheNorth Where are ya'll staying Friday night? Just incase we can make it at a reasonable time.

I've done it a couple times with 265/75R16s. I scratched my left slider a little and put a couple dents in my skids. Most of the hard stuff I managed to get around with nary a scratch.

Friday night I think we are going to stay somewhere near the trailhead. Stefan said he will go out early since he is off and will scout out a spot for us. As for sunday I was thinking just heading a bit north on I17 and take a road and just explore around till we find somewhere we like. I would think it would be no more than a hour drive back for you guys to the valley on Sunday.

Sorry meant to say bloody basin rd if want to stay lower off the I-17 corridor. Still some spots off dugas but may have better options for finding a wind break off bloody basin

And the Bloody Basin Road is in the heart of the Aqua Fria Monument, with lots of camping spots.
