Exactly. Why getting EVs to go main stream is going to be tough. Only way for them to do so when the government mandates them. If it was left up to the free market they just be a niche vehicle.

Of course it does. You can see where the lines are and if you need to straighten out or not.

Lot's of rebates, tax, and other incentives that bring some current EV models under 30k. Tesla intro'd a $25k EV in Germany soon to come to the USA, plenty of EV motorcycles under 20k and under 10k.

Here's a list of under 30k EV's. You guys need to research before you make stuff up

Sure I know you can get a EV sub $30. Those cars don’t even fill the needs. So why spend the money on something I don’t want or need? They aren’t any better for the environment either.

Go jump on the BLM website for Utah especially and go look at all the mine proposals.

I'm a fan of EVs but without the 7500 federal tax credit they don't make much sense. I was about to buy another rav4 prime but they changed the laws 4 months after my deposit and it took another 5 months for it to arrive. There nice but financially they make little sense right now. Especially in the northeast with the high electric rates.

I think you need to request an electronic vehicle forum and get the fuck out of here. The ev talk is getting old fast. This is a 4th gen Tacoma forum.

There already is a specific area of TW for EV's.

Thought you like facts? Utah is all for EV minerals they are very laxxed with mining rights.

    https://eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/home

    https://geology.utah.gov/map-pub/su...d-spurs-interest-in-utahs-metallic-resources/

As I said before I like EVs, like the tech, but also realistic of their impact on the environment too.

Would very interested in that new Toyota IMV 0 if it was an 4WD EV that got 600 mile range and cost sub $30K. However nothing on the current EV market that suits the need or wants, or it does but isn’t cost effective.
It doesn’t, nor should they have a tax incentive to purchase either, not really letting the free market decide. We were looking at the RAV4 Prime as well, couldn’t justify the extra cost over base model. Takes too many years to get the money back out of it, if at all.

More likely to get the money back out we put in fixing the 1G Taco, even the service manager said to let him know when we are going to sell it. Guess they are highly desirable for hunting rigs here.

I didn't say they weren't facts I know what that is. But it is a fact oil exploration, processing and burning is more harmful to humans and the planet than mineral mining for EV's

Pretty sure a BEV 4th Gen Tacoma is in the near future. Seems relevant to talk about it.

You East coast guys might not care, but I can see the areas where we West coast guys like to recreate disappearing because of mineral extraction for EVs. It already has begun. Something to think about when you slam the EV accelerator down passing those petrol burning curmudgeons.

Lots of resources around Moab, wonder what trail system is next on the chopping block?

Yeah, well.... If you want the vast majority of folks to pull the trigger and commit then companies have to offer some type of halfway descent looking budget type of EV/hybrid. It can certainly be done, the thing is that manufacturers don't want to do it.

In 2015 I purchased a Jetta sport for my wife for under 20k. What a great car. Turbo, Leather, heated seats, Bluetooth, navigation, push to start, yadda yadda yadda... It had more tech than my 20 Taco has now.... I traded it in with 90k last year.. original brakes, minor shadetree maintenance.....I got $13k for it..... Manufacturers are over inflating car prices since COVID... This move to EV platforms only muddies the water of what cars are actually worth ..

If manufacturers set a precedent of all EVs starting at a 40k+ price point then we're all screwed... We will be forced into buying ugly ass overpriced crap forever.

Money has to mean something to people.
