What does your employer do, how much does your employer make, and why is that not "too much?"

I'm a service advisor at a luxury dealership. I had a tech clock 40 hours in 1 day!

if you have deep enough pockets for example like Amazon, you can withstand losses while you choke out the competition... eventually you win, through greater volume...
its ok, not everyone gets it and that is understandable
however doesn't make it any less true
some people go to school to learn microeconomics & macroeconomics

Dealership service departments have their place. There are some talented master techs working there that I'd much rather have diagnosing an involved issue. Some of those techs, thankfully, frequent this site and are spectacularly helpful to our membership.
I take 80% of my business to a family owned Auto shop down the road, but I try to keep a good relationship with my dealer. This strategy has worked well for me and I am welcome in both places.

At one time I was the parts manager at a 4 line motorcycle dealership and paid almost straight commission.
Parts and Service were the money makers, even though we sold as much at 10% off as at MSRP.
Wrecks with insurance claims paid my mortgage.
