As much as I hate the phrase " "man cave", this has to be the closest of what I picture in my mind, one should look like.

Just using small electric units at the moment, when the temperature stays below freezing I start the coal stove. We really only use the furnace (before it died) in the spring & fall, it would only run minimally with the coal stove running.

    Bench build update:
Disaster struck on a small epoxy pour to fill some knot hole cracks. A tiny piece of white paper towel somehow got in the epoxy. Spent the past hour digging it out with an ice pick. That's the artsy side.
On the mechanical side the nutsert location and installation went stellar. Both of these legs are slightly twisted (1/8" and 1/16" respectively over 15") so location was not just math. Everything fits and bolts up and now on the the next step!
Not going to post my screw up but hey, here's two located nutserts!

Agree - except with one 25 watt bulb in a steel cage...

When I moved here there were 3 fixtures down there, two had 25 watt bulbs and one had a 40 watt. o_O WTH?? I immediately put 100 watt bulbs in.

Now I have five 150 watt equal LED bulbs, if I'm going to spend hours down there I ain't doing it in the dark.

Hes a smart kid, just got mixed up with the wrong crowd I guess. He started smokin weed though and was giving it top priority...
His dad is at work a lot and I'm sure this hasnt helped the issues. We've got him enrolled in home school now...he only has 4 credits to graduate.
He doesnt have much mechanical experience and we are about to see if we can change that...Ive already got him dreaming about all the cool stuff we can do to the truck.

I do as well. This thing is pretty rusty body wise but the frame and mechanicals seem sound...just in dire need of maintenance. It does run.

Old school… the first one is a three way. The second is a connection block. Phones are easy… two wires for each phone line. Green/Red (Primary) and Black/Yellow (secondary). In the plug connector (RJ-11) the green/red are the center and black/yellow are on the outside (b/r/g/y). Typically DSL is carried on the second pair (a filter is needed, so a NID (Network Interface Device) is used at the demarc (point of service) or filters must be placed at each phone location. The common connector for phone wires is the IDC (Insulator Displacement Connector) in red or yellow 3wire/2wire which are crush type connectors. Fun stuff… ask away!

    Cool.

When we bought this place 20 years ago, the phone wires were so messed up we needed to connect the phone directly to the NID for a few days.

    Thankfully it:
    1) was nice out and not raining and
    2) it wasn’t on top of a telephone pole like Olivers’s (bonus points if anyone knows who Oliver is :D)

In any case, this website has been extremely helpful in helping me understand all things POTS and beyond. I don’t think it’s being maintained any more but some links should pop up on your Chromebooks.

Good morning everyone :hattip: I hope you have a terrific Saturday.

They like to do that to screw the electricians, but it’s usually somebody else they bring along to the shock party. It’s even more fun when the drywallers fill boxes with mud. That’s usually when the 4 lb hammer comes out.
