Try and throw some 93 in the next tankful.

This is my first Tacoma with Carplay and so far I like it a lot. Our first road trip to rural New Mexico had several gaps in cell phone coverage, which while a bit annoying, it wasn’t a showstopper. The Garmin Overlander in the picture is something I had in my previous Tacoma (2015, no CarPlay) so it’s something I already have. The Overlander has basic Topo map capability which was nice on the more remote forest service roads. There is also some very user friendly features on Garmin products that I really like.

I guess the word “perspective” confused you….line of sight from the actual drivers position is not blocked.

Hacked the hell out of my front bumper and installed a Southern Style front bumper. The front right side of bumper was damage... let's not go there right now ;o) My local NJ installer quoted me $2000 for the install. Really?? I can respect a 6 hr professional install fee.. but that's not right... I'm happy w/ the outcome. The instructions left too much bumper. If I ever have to take the bumper off, I'll address it then. Took about 2 hrs of motorcycle jack assistance and neighbors to man handle this into place w/ this a Smittybuilt winch on it as well. Also had to drop the Skid Plate up front to allow the SSO bottom plate of the bumper to go up first next to frame. I'm going to continue hacking the inside wheel well tomorrow to clean it up further and finalize the light bar wiring. I think I ordered the unit maybe a year ago last Black Friday and finally getting around to installing it now. Better pics coming soon.

The one on the passenger side is more due to initial damage than the install. The other side (or both) are due to me needing to cut the trim more all around. The measurements provided by SSO and the video's are not lining up w/ my install. Mine seem to need to be cut another 1/4" all around... dreading considering removing it and redoing... just happy to get it mounted after a year...

I agree, I use the GPS in my Tacoma all the time. It costs me ~#30 a year for a new card. It is correct 99.9% of the time. I don't have a built in GPS in my work vehicle and I use Google or Waze. They also are 99.9% correct and are free. I like the Tacoma system better as it's easier to see, larger display. But, to each their own, whatever works best for you or whichever you like better. That's why we have choices.

You can update the maps, Amazon had them for ~$30. New maps are put out every year, only takes a few minutes to update.

Did you reprogram your TPMS? If not, it's probably reading the tire pressure on what's now your spare tire.
