Weekend project: I have a large office closet that isn’t used for a whole lot, with some available wall space. Considering installing shelving to clean up the whiskey situation, get everything organized and out of sight. Want to keep it simple, anyone done anything similar lately? Recommendations?

Shits heavy yo. I recommend ledger boards into the studs with 3in decking screws, 2 per stud, and 3/4 to 1in plywood as shelving.

Depending on shelf span you may want to put joists on the ledger boards to adequately support.

Finally took some glass to get recycled. Is this what they mean by the phrase, "drink responsibly"?

    Sure :notsure:

Not certain I'll ever drink this one. Just regular Hibiki in a limited edition 100th Anniversary bottle.

    After much contemplation I’ll
probably go ClosetMaid max load shelf track system. We did this in the garage in our last house because it was relatively cheap and easy and the shelves were rated for pretty massive weight surprisingly (if you install correctly and put a track on every stud. 100 pound capacity per linear foot)…

I picked one of these up recently and really like it. It's a bit on the pricey side here in NE Ohio. Want to say I paid just over $100 for it

It came through here a couple months ago around the same price point. I grabbed two. Glad I did. It's damn good.

Oh yeah! I like an orange forward, or citrus forward flavor on these compared to the angostura flavor. I picked up orange bitters to make a Martinez. But I’ve used Blood Orange bitters in the past for OF as well. I prefer this style of orange bitters for my OFs.

    1 large ice rock
    3-5 dashes of orange
    2 dashes of Angostura
Demerara simple syrup - amount based on your preference, but a 1-2 bar spoonful
    2oz of your preferred rye
Luxardo cherry and orange peel twist

That’s how I make them, really enjoy this recipe - although I really never use the orange peel - I just never have oranges

It’s fun to make some various styles with the bitters available. I have a chile bitter that is fun as well, especially when I make a tequila inspired old fashioned!

I am going to try this RIGHT Now.

I don't really use simple syrup due to health reasons, I stick to maple or agave syrup.

I'm a rum lover - if you have any dark rum around -

try an old fashion with dark rum instead.

if you really want to get creative - get cacao or chocolate bitters and do an old rum fashioned with choco bitters.

I have some dark rum I brought back from Kauai a few months ago. Waiting to crack it, but this is exactly what I will try with it! I need to get chocolate bitters and black walnut bitters, to have and be able to make a few things with!

And I love the richness the Demerara sugar provides, i make my own and usually make a thick syrup for it. 2:1 ratio at least. When I make my tequila old Fashioneds, I do use agave as for those.
